Blame Game
Regular price $27.00 Save $-27.00Beach Bunny announce their new EP Blame Game out January 15, 2021 via Mom+Pop Music. The new EP follows the band’s 2020 Billboard Top 10 debut album Honeymoon, which received 4 STARS from Rolling Stone - and a print profile - a multi-page critic’s essay from The New Yorker and features with The Cut, i-D, Paper, Nylon and many more. Where Honeymoon centered on the highs and lows of new love, Blame Game takes aim at toxic masculinity, sexism and the emotional labor of unreliable relationships. Blame Game was written in quarantine and recorded in Chicago over a week in August. The four new original songs are produced by Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Joyce Manor, Modern Baseball, Remo Drive).
Emotional Creature (Colored Vinyl, Yellow, Orange)
Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00Emotional Creature - ORANGE MARBLE - Beach Bunny - As lockdown approached in 2020, Chicago-based singer Lili Trifilio was wrapping up a tour in support of Beach Bunny's debut album, Honeymoon. Suddenly, she found herself back at her parents' house, coping with her new reality. To deal, she retreated into sci-fi stories and her always-active imagination. She envisioned new places to travel in her mind, thus dreaming up big, bombastic pop sounds to construct Beach Bunny's highly anticipated sophomore album, Emotional Creature. Simultaneously about personal growth, Emotional Creature is a collection of highly relatable songs that capture the highs and lows of new relationships, the joys and vulnerabilities of letting someone in, the gut-wrenching realities of experiencing anxiety, leaving toxic relationships, and seeing yourself through the eyes of the one you love. These complex feelings are expertly contrasted with ultra-poppy melodies, anthemic choruses, and a slight punk edge. 'The songs have grown with me over time,' Trifilio explains. 'Some of them were written in various stages of life, and I think as we go through different experiences and hardships, you come out stronger. I've grown as a person, so the songwriting reflects that.' With it's openhearted, vulnerable themes and progressive, hook-filled take on pop rock and pop punk, Emotional Creature only further cements Beach Bunny and Trifilio's well-earned reputation as a leading voice of their generation. Honeymoon (Light Blue Vinyl)
Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00Few artists can pinpoint an emotion as clearly and honestly as Beach Bunny's Lili Trifilio. On Honeymoon, the excellent debut album from Trifilio's songwriting project and four-piece band, it's as if she's singing about things everyone has felt before but never had the courage to put in words themselves. It's the stunning culmination of her evolution as a songwriter and artist, which started in 2015 as a bedroom pop solo project.
Recorded at the iconic Chicago studio Electrical Audio with producer Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Algernon Caldwaller), the nine songs on the LP burst with energy that capture their vital and life-affirming live shows. Songs like the swooning and anthemic singles "Dream Boy" and "Ms. California" encapsulate the highs and lows the exiting the honeymoon stage of a relationship. It's an album for anyone whose felt uncertain and doubtful about their future and had the courage to dive in and choose optimism and love.
Unlike Beach Bunny's self-released EPs which were largely written in a single month, Honeymoon came about patiently, over the course of nine months. The result is a more confident and clear-eyed band that make some of the most charming and relatable rock anthems of the year.
