Originally released in November of 1992,Rage Against the Machinesignaled the arrival of a revolutionary musical force, a band straddling the worlds of hip-hop and heavy metal with a scorching streetwise sound that rapped and rhymed hardcore across a musical backdrop as menacing and inspirational as graffiti.Rage Against the Machineentered the popular lexicon as more than just a revolutionary American rock band, the group's very name provided a rallying battle cry for the ongoing struggles for liberation, psychic and political, on planet earth.
Formed in 1991,Rage Against the Machineopened the gates of a new boundary, obliterating rock-rap musical alliance with the band's literate and politically-charged debut album. Driven by Tom Morello's unmistakable guitar wallop and vocalist Zack de la Rocha's salient bulletins from the front,Rage Against the Machinebecame a critical and commercial success, selling millions of copies around the world while attaining legendary status among alt-rock fans. To this day the album, and the band, remain standard-bearers for uncompromising incendiary rock. Remastered180g vinylreproduction of the original LP.
Rage Against The MachineRage Against The Machine: 20th Anniversary EditionTrack Listing:
Following three groundbreaking studio releases of original material, Rage Against The Machine returned in 2000 with Renegades, a tribute album paying homage to their musical heroes and philosophical roots. Displaying a broad variety of artists and genres, the diverse 12-song set includes material from the likes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Minor Threat, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, MC5, The Rolling Stones, Devo and Cypress Hill among others. Rather than just give every song the obligatory Rage Against The Machine treatment, each cut is arranged distinctly here, resulting in an ambitious and musically varied affair. For instance, Afrika Bambaataa's "Renegades of Funk" and Eric B. & Rakim's "Microphone Fiend" have never been rocked so hard before, whereas Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad" finds the group as refined and musically daring as ever!
