Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Deluxe Edition)
Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00Deluxe Vinyl Edition featuring Songs from the Motion Picture & Original Score by Tyler Bates!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is filled with great action, humor and performances, but it is also infused with a new mixed tape and soundtrack, a dynamic that resonated deeply with audiences in the first film as evidenced by the success of the soundtrack album. The Grammy-nominated Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack album consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the chart. The album has also been certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A.
Once again, music plays an important role in the telling of the story in Volume 2. Set to the all-new sonic backdrop, Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.
Director James Gunn explains, "We had Awesome Mix Volume 1 last time, and this time we have Awesome Mix Volume 2. It was so important that it's actually part of the film's title this time around. As most people know, Quill's mom made the first tape for a slightly younger boy, and she made the second tape for a slightly older boy. So, in many ways the songs reflect the story. The songs are a little bit deeper in some ways; a little bit less pop in some ways. Some of the choices are a bit more eclectic; some of the choices are a bit more popular. But we have a real amazing group of songs that, like in the first movie, I wrote into the script. They are a part of the storytelling. Each song is very specific to the scene where it's placed."
On the importance of the score, which often gets overlooked in a film heavy with popular songs, Gunn adds, "The one thing that is underappreciated is how important Tyler Bates' score is to the first film. We still use the score from the first movie while shooting this film and it doesn't get the respect it deserves because it gets so overshadowed by the soundtrack. There's some beautiful score on that first soundtrack, and I know that the music we've written for the second film is even better than what we did for the first film. Tyler Bates has absolutely outdone himself, and we're giving something very special to people with the music in this film, both the pop songs and the actual score."

Dirty Dancing
Regular price $25.00 Save $-25.00Dirty Dancing (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Various Artists on LP
A cornerstone of '80s pop culture, Dirty Dancing (1987) reflected back on the early-'60s culture of summer vacation life at a resort in New York's Catskill Mountains. With its heavenly mix of generation gap melodrama, well-programmed rock, R&B, Latin and pre-disco music, coming-of-age sexuality among its teens, and of course plenty of laughs and "dirty dancing," the movie has stood the test of time over the last three decades.
The Dirty Dancing soundtrack album soared on the wings of the original chart hits "Hungry Eyes" (Billboard Hot 100 #4); "She's Like the Wind" (Hot 100 #3); and the Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe Award-winning "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" (Hot 100 #1). Those three songs were among the six new originals produced for the soundtrack album, which spent 96 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart spanning 1987-'88-'89, including 18 weeks at #1.
The soundtrack also included five well-chosen pop classics that were featured in the movie. Those five hits, all dating from the 1950s and '60s, are: "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes (Hot 100 #2, 1963); "Stay" by Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs, "Hey Baby" by Bruce Channel, "Love Is Strange by Mickey & Sylvia and "In The Still Of The Night" by the Five Satins.

Double vinyl LP pressing. Housed in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves. The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motley lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool façade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can't wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant, but weird, hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein. On their own, any one of them is likely to get lost in the sprawl of space, but together, they're they most entertaining gang of bounty hunters in the year 2071. Composed and performed by Yoko Kanno and the band Seatbelts, the music of Cowboy Bebop is one of the signature elements of the series. The energetic jazz-infused pieces rip and roar across the stars and are as indispensable as the crew of the Bebop themselves.

A rock star rises from the dead to exact revenge on the men who killed him and his wife in this fantastic 1994 comic-book adaptation. Peaking at the top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart and certified triple platinum, the acclaimed Original Motion Picture Soundtrack offers up a nice helping of industrial, gothic, and alternative hard rock from the likes of The Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Rollins Band, Helmet, Pantera and The Jesus And Mary Chain among others. Vinyl 2LP reissue with d-side crow etching.
"The early Nineties were filled with best-selling soundtracks, everything from Dazed and Confused to Pulp Fiction, each of them catering to a specific slice of the listening public. For some fans, the period's preeminent soundtrack belonged to 1994's The Crow; like the movie that inspired it, the collection drips with a moody, eyeliner-smeared darkness that's so of its time, it makes listening to it today comparable to leafing through old graduation photos." - Revolver

The 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking 1992 romantic comedy, Singles, is being commemorated with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the film's integral Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The 2LP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12″ vinyl plus a bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks included as a special insert. The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack was produced by Danny Bramson and Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York and includes liner notes – and a track-by-track description of the album's music written especially for this collection by Crowe
The newly released bonus CD (included with the 2LP-set) features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. It also includes "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from Singles performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).
25 years ago, the film Singles and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary acts including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden - while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements – contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."
"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting ‘Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did – Viva Seattle!"
The expanded edition of Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is cause to celebrate anew the radical rock sounds that radiated out of the American Northwest a quarter century ago and changed pop music forever!
