Regular price $30.00 Sale price $20.00 Save $10.00Limited silver colored vinyl LP pressing. Toro y Moi's seventh studio album, Mahal, is the boldest and most fascinating journey yet from musical mastermind Chaz Bear. The record spans genre and sound-encompassing the shaggy psychedelic rock of the 1960s and '70s, and the airy sounds of 1990s mod-post-rock-taking listeners on an auditory expedition, as if they're riding in the back of Bear's Filipino jeepney that adorns the album's cover. But Mahal is also an unmistakably Toro y Moi experience, calling back to previous works while charting a new path forward in a way that only Bear can do. Mahal is the latest in an accomplished career for Bear, who's undoubtedly one of the decade's most influential musicians. Since the release of the electronic pop landmark Causers of This in 2009, subsequent records as Toro y Moi have repeatedly shifted the idea of what his sound can be. But there's little in Bear's catalog that will prepare you for the deep-groove excursions on Mahal, his most eclectic record to date.

Live And Rare
Regular price $29.00 Save $-29.00On January 27th, 1990, Helmet entered the stage of New York’s equally famous and infamous CBGB’s. What followed was an explosive live show, set during the earliest days of the band’s career. Getting ready to release their debut album 'Strap It On' in March that year, Helmet propelled themselves through a staccato-heavy set of tracks that would soon earn them worldwide acclaim in the Punk scene.
The first side of this brand-new live album features the CBGB’s set for the first time ever on vinyl and CD, while the second half contains an equally energetic performance, recorded in 1993 at the Big Day Out Festival in Melbourne, Australia. With tracks such as "Ironhead," "Better" and "In the Meantime," the set list strikes a perfect balance between the band’s hits and hidden gems from their early years.
Moon Child (Black, 180 Gram Vinyl)
Regular price $32.00 Save $-32.00To celebrate the 45th anniversary of iconic Dutch jazz label Timeless Records, Music On Vinyl is releasing a series that features albums that are part of the Timeless Records legacy and will be released mainly throughout 2022.
Part of this series is Pharoah Sanders' Moon Child from 1990, which bookended a decade of musical soul searching for Sanders. The acclaimed free jazz player is known to have a raw and abrasive sound, but reinvented himself on this album as a more traditional improviser capable of thoughtful deliberations. Moon Child is a grand old time throughout, and Sanders has never been more eminently sing-along-able as he is on it's title track. The record was co-written with Horace Silver, George Gershwin and Abdullah Ibrahim and recorded with William Henderson, Stafford James, Eddie Moore and Cheikh Tidiane Fall. Moon Child is available on black vinyl.
Finally, New (Coke Bottle Clear) [Explicit Content]
Regular price $25.00 Save $-25.00For anyone who's been feeling suffocated by the sameness that's been afflicting hip-hop and pop – where a small handful of ideas gets recycled endlessly, and a spin through the big new-release playlists quickly devolves into a blur – They Hate Change's Jagjaguwar debut, Finally, New lives up to its name. Finally, a record that can satisfy the geeky headphone trainspotters and the hedonistic ass-shakers, too. Finally, producers who refuse to settle for making drag-and-drop beats. Finally, rappers who aren't afraid of actually sticking out from the crowd and saying something new, and who embody the classic quote from Run of Run-DMC that, "The only thing rap music is – there is no music to rap. We just rap over whatever we want."
The album's lead single, "From the Floor" shows off Vonne and Dre's talents to organically connect disparate influences, fusing icy UK drum & bass breaks with Miami bass bounce, layering on Dirty-South-mixtape-style raps, and dousing the whole thing in spacy psychedelia worthy of Can. "Blatant Localism" spotlights the pair's verbal teamwork, as they trade lines taking aim at style-deficient hypebeast rappers over a pixelated beat, landing on something like turn-of-the-millennium IDM, but with a lot more shit talk. The coolly frenetic "X-Ray Spex" infuses jungle with propulsive synthesizer ambience. And they're as daring with their lyrics as they are with their beats: on "Little Brother," Dre draws an emotionally complex portrait of the hood economics other rappers shallowly glamorize, while "Some Days I Hate My Voice" is Vonne's speaker-knocking ode to androgynous gender euphoria, complete with shout-outs to 100 gecs and 60's trans soul star Jackie Shane.
Finally, New is what a truly post-genre musical landscape is supposed to be: building deep connections that transcend outdated distinctions between them, spilling over with the joy of exploration and possibility, and daring other artists to think broader, go deeper, take bigger risks. Let the rest of them keep playing by the old rules – They Hate Change will keep changing the game.

LP.8 (White Vinyl)
Regular price $10.00 Save $-10.00Born out of a series of studio sessions, LP.8 was created with no preconceptions or expectations: an unbridled exploration into the creative subconscious. After releasing her sophomore album Inner Song in the midst of the pandemic, Kelly Lee Owens was faced with the sudden realization that her world tour could no longer go ahead. Keen to make use of this untapped creative energy, she made the spontaneous decision to go to Oslo instead. There was no overarching plan, it was simply a change of scenery and a chance for some undisturbed studio time.
It just so happened that her flight from London was the last before borders were closed once again. The blank page project was underway. Arriving to snowglobe conditions and sub-zero temperatures, she began spending time in the studio with esteemed avant-noise artist Lasse Marhaug. Together, they envisioned making music somewhere in between Throbbing Gristle and Enya, artists who have had an enduring impact on Kelly's creative being. In doing so, they paired tough, industrial sounds with ethereal Celtic mysticism, creating music that ebbs and flows between tension and release.
One month later, Kelly called her label to tell them she had created something of an outlier, her ‘eighth album'.

Greatest Hit Singles
Regular price $26.00 Save $-26.00Wreckless Abandon
Regular price $28.00 Save $-28.00While 2020's Wreckless Abandon is their first official release and occasion to tour, The Dirty Knobs first came together 15 years ago after Mike Campbell met guitarist Jason Sinay at a session and liked the way their guitars sounded together. After adding the acclaimed rhythm section of bassist Lance Morrison (Don Henley) and drummer Matt Laug (Slash, Alanis Morrisette), The Dirty Knobs became an outlet for Campbell to work on some of the other songs he was writing between Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers records and touring.
They got together when schedules permitted, playing music without an agenda, expectations or deadlines, without worrying about outcome or hits, pushing boundaries of taste, imagination, and genres and creating some of the most brutally confident yet psychically dangerous rock and roll since sonic-renegade juggernauts the Yardbirds first sauntered onto a London stage and ripped into "For Your Love." As the years went on the Knobs played out here and there, almost incognito, in little clubs in Southern California. In a way, they were doing their own version of the Beatles' formative, tighten-up Hamburg years: performing oddball covers but mostly original songs about bad women, complicated relationships and messy confrontations.
Finally, after all those years together, it became clear they should take what they did to the next level. Campbell's long-time compatriot, friend and bandmate, Tom Petty, had passed away, and after the numbing grief abated some, the guitarist knew the only way to heal some of the pain was to throw himself wholeheartedly back into his music. "Losing Tom was earth-shattering for me. It was a total shock," says Campbell. "It had felt like we would be playing together forever. For a while it was hard to imagine playing in my own band again, let alone one where I'm the frontman. Tom was always my beacon. But everything I've been doing since Tom passed, including this album with The Dirty Knobs, is in the spirit of honoring what we did together."
They recorded the album at Campbell's home studio, Hocus Pocus Recorders, in just three weeks' time, before the guitarist went out on the road in 2018 as a member of Fleetwood Mac. The Knobs tapped legendary producer George Drakoulias, who had also produced Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' 2002 LP The Last DJ, to co-produce. They also contacted the equally fabled Klaus Voormann - Beatles intimate, former member of Manfred Mann, and the artist behind Revolver - to design their album cover. "From the very first, the Dirty Knobs just felt right," says Campbell. "Everything just flowed. Recording the album was just an extension of that. This is a great group, there's a chemistry here and there's fun. You can't underrate the importance of fun. It's not something you can fake, but it is something you can hear in the album."

External Combustion
Regular price $26.00 Save $-26.00For Mike Campbell, External Combustion – the second album by his first band as a leader, The Dirty Knobs – is proof that lightning can strike twice. The follow-up to their 2020 debut Wreckless Abandon beats a new set of odds and jumps ahead in vision and drive, proving the first record was no one-shot deal. Campbell experienced all of the above and more with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – riding shotgun with his friend and captain as lead guitarist, co-producer, and, at times, co-writer – when he met guitarist Jason Sinay at a session in Los Angeles in 2000. Once Lance Morrison joined in on bass and Matt Laug on drums, that turned into The Dirty Knobs, named after a faulty amp dial.
