Stranger in the Alps
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Produced by Tony Berg and Ethan Gruska, the ten haunting and introspective songs on Stranger In The Alps further introduces 22-year-old Phoebe Bridgers as a singular voice. There is a delicate balance to her work, a dance between veiled narratives and earnest emotions, between whispers and shouts. Throughout her full-length debut, Bridgers contemplates and reflects on personal experiences through her unique lyric writing perspective: there are overt references to lost idols, canonical pop songs and actual incidents, but her stories unfold through specific, evocative imagery sung in her subtle, confessional style. From the weeping strings and Twin Peaks twangs of opening track "Smoke Signals," to the simple heartbreak of "Funeral" and melancholic crescendo of "Scott Street," Stranger in the Alps is a swooningly beautiful record with a gothic heart.

Evermore (Green)
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Deluxe Colored Vinyl 2LP Edition of Folklore Sister Record featuring Haim, The National and Bon Iver Plus Two Bonus Tracks!
Serving as Taylor Swift's ninth studio album overall and the sister record to Folklore (the No. 1 selling album of 2020), the universally acclaimed Evermore bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as the beloved singer/songwriter's second No. 1 on the chart in five months and third No. 1 on the chart in sixteen months. It also eclipsed global sales of one million in under seven days. Featuring the hit singles "Willow," "No Body, No Crime" and "Coney Island," Evermore was created with Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and Justin Vernon and includes guest contributions from Haim, The National and Bon Iver. This deluxe colored vinyl 2LP edition of the album also includes the two bonus tracks "Right Where You Left Me" and "It's Time To Go."
"To put it plainly, we just couldn't stop writing songs," Swift says of her second album of 2020. "To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in. I've never done this before. In the past I've always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released."
NME wrote in their five-star review: "If Folklore is an introspective, romantic older sister, Evermore is the freewheeling younger sibling. Folklore was Swift's masterful songwriting spun through a very specific sonic palette. Evermore feels looser, with more experimentation, charm and musical shades at play. The new album reaps the rewards the stylistic leap of faith that Folklore represented, pushing the boundaries of that sonic palette further still."

Weezer (Blue Album)
Regular price $30.98 Save $-30.98Weezer doesn't look like rock stars, its amusing name doesn't evoke stadium-heights glories, and the group's lyrics don't exude confidence or flash. For precisely these reasons, and the fact that the band's songs on their Ric Ocasek-produced 1994 self-titled debut are the stuff of air-guitar dreams and shout-it-out choruses, the quartet became ironic arena-rock stars equally celebrated by in-the-know hipsters and mainstream radio listeners.
Underdogs and misfits, Weezer emerged from Los Angeles, CA as nerdy kids that eschewed traditional party-hard ways in favor of studying Kiss records, engaging in conversations about old LPs, and playing Dungeons and Dragons. The band's awkwardness joyfully translates in the songs on their debut, largely concerned with jealous insecurities, pop culture, true-to-life heartbreak, common accidents, youthful misconceptions, and daydreaming.
Replete with urgent melodies, quirky confessional narratives, wry humor, and gargantuan hooks, Weezer (Blue Album) remains the best geek-rock record ever made. More than three-times platinum, the Blue Album claims an iconic cover that pays tribute to that of the Feelies' Crazy Rhythms. The picture – as well as the bubblegum-inspired content within – has become an indelible part of modern culture. And "My Name Is Jonas," "Say It Ain't So," "Buddy Holly," and "Undone (The Sweater Song)" are all modern classics.

Cleopatra
Regular price $28.98 Save $-28.98Vinyl LP pressing. 2016 album from the Grammy-nominated outfit. It took four years for The Lumineers to follow up their platinum-plus self-titled debut - which spent 46 weeks on the Billboard 200 and peaked at #2 - but Cleopatra is well worth the wait. During that time, The Lumineers - whose original members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites founded the band in Ramsey, New Jersey back in 2002 - earned a pair of Grammy nominations (Best New Artist, Best Americana Album). Cleopatra proves Schultz and Fraites - along with cellist/vocalist Neyla Pekarek- are neither taking their good fortune for granted, nor sitting back on their laurels. With the help of producer Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers, The Avett Brothers), the man Wesley calls "our shaman," the band ensconced themselves in Clubhouse, a recording studio high atop a hill in rural Rhinebeck, N.Y., not far from Woodstock. The band had total artistic freedom in writing and recording the album, so Wesley and Jer pushed the envelope on experimental tracks like the stream-of-consciousness, purposely lo-fi "Sick in the Head," the yearning, piano chord build-up of "In the Light," or the closing orchestral instrumental, the aptly titled coda, "Patience." "We continue to make the kind of records we want to," says Wesley. "We believe in this music. It's a true labor of love. We just want to keep reaching more people with our songs." Given the evidence on The Lumineers' eagerly anticipated sophomore album Cleopatra, that shouldn't be a problem.

The Slow Rush
Regular price $42.98 Save $-42.98The highly anticipated The Slow Rush marks Tame Impala's (Kevin Parker) fourth full-length album overall and first studio effort since 2015's Grammy-nominated and BRIT Award-winning Currents. Recorded between Los Angeles and Parker's studio in his hometown of Fremantle, Australia, the twelve tracks were all recorded, produced and mixed by Parker himself.
The Slow Rush is Parker's deep dive into the oceans of time, conjuring the feeling of a lifetime in a lightning bolt, of major milestones whizzing by while you're looking at your phone, it's a paean to creation and destruction and the unending cycle of life. Parker told the New York Times that, "A lot of the songs carry this idea of time passing, of seeing your life flash before your eyes, being able to see clearly your life from this point onwards. I'm being swept by this notion of time passing. There's something really intoxicating about it."
Single "It Might Be Time" is your paranoid shadow snapping at your Achilles heel. It's the horrifying idea that your mojo's gone out for a walk and it may not be coming back. It's second guessing yourself, wondering 'have I still got it? Did I ever?' Your paranoid inner observer taunting you in your own denial, telling you to wake up and accept your salad days are over. A dynamic, bombastic burst of pungent prog-pop, "It Might Be Time" pulses on an insistent keyboard groove, punctuated by collisions of overblown drums flaying at the edges, the outward expression of a restless internal funk. A heady psych bomb threatening to implode, "It Might Be Time" is potent Tame Impala 2020.
The Slow Rush cover art was created in collaboration with photographer Neil Krug and features a symbol of humanity all but swallowed whole by the surrounding environment, as though in the blink of an eye.

Slipknot
Regular price $22.99 Save $-22.99Over twenty-five years ago, nine guys from Des Moines, Iowa, shattered the scope of what was possible in metal. Slipknot's music put blastbeats, massive breakdowns and brutal riffs alongside breakbeats and turntablism; punctuated hooky melodies with extreme vocals and percussive rap verses. On stage, bodies clad in numbered jumpsuits and horror film masks crashed into each other, eliciting mania from hungry crowds and drawing blood and breaking bones in the process.
Everything Slipknot did was maximalist and monstrous, completely unhinged and meticulously thought out. From the moment Slipknot appeared on an early afternoon stage at Ozzfest ‘99, it was clear they were like nothing people had ever seen and everything they never knew they needed.
It's no surprise that Slipknot's self-titled debut, recorded to tape with Ross Robinson at the infamous Indigo Ranch (Korn, Soulfly, Machine Head) and released on Roadrunner, went platinum within three months of release – despite a lack of press, radio, or MTV support – on the strength of the reputation they built through relentless touring and hits like "Wait and Bleed," "Eyeless," and "Spit it Out." Slipknot's self titled, nearly triple platinum debut release gets the vinyl re-issue treatment here on colored vinyl!

The Fader called lead single "Green Light," "a true pop anthem – made for both earbud strutting and the club"; Billboard praised "Liability" as "an absolute jaw-dropper"; and SPIN hailed "Sober" as "the strangest, coolest Melodrama song yet." Donuts
Regular price $33.99 Save $-33.99J Dilla Donuts on 2LP
Donuts began simply enough as an idea to turn a particularly good demo beat tape into a full-length release, and has since became a classic hip-hop album, one of the defining works of J Dilla's life.
Completed during a year J Dilla mostly spent in a hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Donuts would gain particular poignancy when, only three days after it's release, February 10, 2006, the artist passed away, losing his battle with a rare blood disease.
Announced in the Fall of 2005, the concept of a “rap album without rappers” struck some as minor novelty, but Donuts would prove to transcend the rigid definitions of what a hip-hop album could be. It plays part like a DJ mix, part like a hip-hop beat maker at work, its songs starting and stopping unexpectedly, like someone turning the dial on an imaginary radio station. But it's an unmistakably modern album, and one which perfectly encapsulated the artist's reputation among his peers and fans as a top-rated architect of soulful hip-hop.
