Sade formed in London in 1982. However, three of their members were originally from Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Sade's 1984 debut studio album Diamond Life, was a hit internationally, reaching # 1 in several countries and the Top Ten in the US where it has sold in excess of 4 million copies. In late 1985, Sade released their second studio album Promise, which peaked at No. 1 in both the UK and the US. It was certified double platinum in the UK, and quadruple platinum in the US. In 1986 Sade won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Their 2000 fifth studio album, Lovers Rock, won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Sade's US certified sales so far stand at 23.5 million units according to Recording Industry Association of America (RIAAand have sold more than 75 million records worldwide to date. Thundercat's new album It Is What It Is was co-produced with Flying Lotus and features musical contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, and Zack Fox.

It Is What It Is follows his game-changing third album Drunk (2017). That record completed his transition from virtuoso bassist to bonafide star and cemented his reputation as a unique voice that transcends genre. "This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that," Bruner says about It Is What It Is. "It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don't necessarily understand...some things just aren't meant to be understood."

The unruly bounce of single "Black Qualls" is classic Thundercat, teaming up with Steve Lacy (The Internet) and Funk icon Steve Arrington (Slave). It's another example of Stephen Lee Bruner's desire to highlight the lineage of his music and pay his respects to the musicians who inspired him. When I Get Home represents the next phase in Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Solange's evolution as an artist following the release of her critically acclaimed 2016 album A Seat at the Table. The album won numerous accolades including winning awards for "On & On" and a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the 40th Grammy Awards in 1998. Baduizm's success earned Erykah Badu popularity at the time and helped establish her as one of the emerging neo soul genre's leading artists. Recording sessions for the album took place from January to October 1996 at Battery Studios in New York City, Sigma Sounds and Ivory Studios in Philadelphia, and Dallas Sound Lab in Dallas. Continuing with its Respect The Classics initiative, UMe reissued this album in its entirety, on double vinyl LP for the first time.
