Deluxe 2LP Edition of Final Studio Album with Two Bonus Tracks

Circles is the sixth and final studio album by the late Mac Miller. Conceived as a sister album to 2018's Grammy-nominated Swimming, the album was completed with the assistance of Jon Brion, with whom Miller worked on Swimming and had been working together on Circles at the time of his passing. While sonically distinctly different than its predecessor, Circles features many of the hallmarks for which Swimming was critically-acclaimed upon its release - Miller further realizing his singing voice in addition to rapping, live instrumentation and earnest, confessional lyrical content. Listeners will hear shades of some of the album's influences in its songs, from the T-Rex guitar tone of "Surf" to the Plastic Ono Band-era John Lennon feel of its production and the inspired cover of Arthur Lee's 1972 single "Everybody's Gotta Live." It's a momentous final entry into the discography of an artist that remains at the center of reimagining the limits of rap. This deluxe colored vinyl 2LP edition comes complete with two bonus tracks.

Serving as his fifth full-length studio effort overall, it includes contributions from fellow rapper/producer J. Cole, British singer/songwriter Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange) and composer/instrumentalist John Brion. Miller told Zane Lowe that the album is focused on space and "what it means to be inside of a record."

The album is the follow-up to the rapper's critically-acclaimed 2012 Effort Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The album was recorded in studios throughout the United States, with executive production from Dr. Dre and Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith. Boi-1da, Flying Lotus, Terrace Martin, Pharrell Williams, Knxwledge, Sounwave, Thundercat and several other hip hop producers also contributed. It's music was influenced by aspects of funk, jazz and spoken word. To Pimp A Butterfly debuted atop the Billboard 200 and received widespread acclaim from critics, who praised it's musical scope and the social relevance of Lamar's lyrics.

Kids See Ghosts is the eponymous debut from the hip hop duo of the same name featuring Kanye West and Kid Cudi and the third of five 7-track 2018 albums produced by West succeeding Pusha T's Daytona and his own ye and preceding Nas' Nasir and Teyana Taylor's K.T.S.E. Fans have been anticipating an album length project from the longtime collaborators for a decade now and the intriguing Kids See Ghosts is a cathartic and confessional affair with both artists documenting bouts of depression and struggles with drug abuse throughout. "We just have this chemistry that's undeniable, especially when we have to fight for it with each other," Cudi said. It includes contributions from Pusha T, Yasiin Bey, Ty Dolla Sign and a posthumous vocal sample of Louis Prima.

In November 1986, the Beastie Boys released their debut album Licensed To Ill on Def Jam/Columbia. It stands as one of Columbia's fastest-selling debuts to date and eventually sold over nine million copies in the U.S. alone. Licensed To Ill is still the only album by a white hip-hop act to receive the coveted 5 mics from the Source who has selected the album as one of the best 100 Best Rap Albums of all-time. Playful music videos were made for the classic cuts "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)," "No Sleep Till Brooklyn," "Girls," "Hold It Now Hit It," "Rhymin' and Stealin'" and "She's Crafty," while further gems like "Brass Monkey," "Paul Revere," and "Time To Get Ill" proved Licensed To Ill to be all killer no filler.

Kerry King of Slayer even made an appearance on the album playing lead guitar on "No Sleep Till Brooklyn," which was named as a spoof on Motorhead's No Sleep 'til Hammersmith album. King's appearance came about because Rick Rubin was producing both bands simultaneously (Slayer's Reign in Blood was also originally released on Dej Jam). The album's iconic cover, front to back, features a Boeing 727 - with Beastie Boys emblazoned on the tail - crashing head-on into the side of a mountain, appearing as an extinguished joint. The tail of the plane has the Def Jam logo and the legend '3MTA3' which spells 'EATME' when viewed in a mirror.

In five whirlwind years, Kendrick Lamar has gone from being hip-hop's hottest rising star to one of the most important voices of his generation. And as his latest album, DAMN., proves, he shows no signs of stopping. His third No. 1 in a row, the hotly anticipated release sees Lamar make another about-turn after the fearlessly creative excursions of 2015's To Pimp A Butterfly. If DAMN. is a more stripped-back, direct album, it's also another utterly compelling one. With his laidback flow and thought-provoking lyrics, it finds Kendrick at the very top of his game, making the personal political – and vice versa – and ensuring that he leads the charge, at a time when the world very much needs a voice like his.

J Dilla Donuts on 2LP

Donuts began simply enough as an idea to turn a particularly good demo beat tape into a full-length release, and has since became a classic hip-hop album, one of the defining works of J Dilla's life.

Completed during a year J Dilla mostly spent in a hospital bed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Donuts would gain particular poignancy when, only three days after it's release, February 10, 2006, the artist passed away, losing his battle with a rare blood disease.

Announced in the Fall of 2005, the concept of a “rap album without rappers” struck some as minor novelty, but Donuts would prove to transcend the rigid definitions of what a hip-hop album could be. It plays part like a DJ mix, part like a hip-hop beat maker at work, its songs starting and stopping unexpectedly, like someone turning the dial on an imaginary radio station. But it's an unmistakably modern album, and one which perfectly encapsulated the artist's reputation among his peers and fans as a top-rated architect of soulful hip-hop.
