Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party - CD
Regular price $14.98 Save $-14.98After 20+ years spent fulfilling their contract for Atlantic Records - a contract Williams signed as a mere teenager - Paramore announced in December of 2023 that they were finally an independent band. This surprise collection is self-released by Hayley Williams on her new venture Post Atlantic. These songs come as the third batch of work released from Williams as a solo artist. The COVID-era saw her release two extraordinary albums - 2020's Petals For Armor and 2021's Flowers for Vases. Both albums were gorgeous and stark meditations on loss and offered up a contrast to the high-energy and up-tempo muscle she displays in Paramore. "The record-epitomizing vulnerability and transformative growth-reveals a more mature and introspective side of Williams," said Pitchfork of Petals, and went on to say of Flowers "her voice is undoubtedly the standout feature... husky and gentle, dangerous yet warm," and explained that the minimal production "makes this a purposeful reset."

Belong - CD

Jay Som is your favorite band's favorite band - or songwriter, producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist... The list goes on and on when referring to Jay Som's mastermind Melina Duterte. After breaking into the spotlight with the critically acclaimed Everybody Works (2017) and it's follow-up, Anak Ko (2019), Duterte became one of the most in-demand musicians in the industry - whether it's collaborating with artists such as Troye Sivan, recording original tracks for films like A24's I Saw The TV Glow, or working on grammy-award-winning albums like boygenius' the record, as well as performing in the boygenius touring band with shows across the globe + a performance on SNL. Duterte has been a part of some of the biggest indie albums of the decade, you just might not have noticed. That's all about to change however, with the release of the brilliant new Jay Som album, Belong. The album is undeniably Duterte's best work yet and features 11 tracks that showcase her ever-expansive musicianship and wide-ranging influences. Recorded at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia and mixed by Duterte and Kyle Pulley (Dr. Dog, Alex G), Belong is chock-full of everything you'd expect from such an influential and pioneering fixture in music. Tracks like "Float" (featuring Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins) showcase Duterte's knack for melody while other standouts like "Past Lives" (featuring Paramore's Hayley Williams) tastefully build towards an anthemic resolve, with both Duterte and Williams' interchanging vocals on full display. Belong is a turning point for Jay Som - a career-defining statement that finds Duterte rightfully stepping into the spotlight.

Milk Teeth - CD
Regular price $9.98 Save $-9.98Compact Disc
The Milk Teeth EP compiles singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse's various non-album singles onto a physical release for the first time. It includes the song "Good Looking," which, in mid-2022, exploded on Tik Tok and hit #1 on the global viral chart. Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as an actress and model, but you'll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music. Growing up in London, Suki gravitated towards music's magnetic pull. She listened to the likes of Alanis Morissette and caught Missy Elliott live as her first concert. Meanwhile, Oasis held a particularly special place in her heart. She initially teased out this facet of her creativity with a series of singles, generating nearly 20 million total streams independently. Nylon hailed her debut "Brutally" as "what a Lana Del Rey deep cut mixed with Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides, Now' would sound like." In addition to raves from Garage by Vice and Lemonade Magazine, DUJOR put it best, "Suki Waterhouse's music has swagger." Constantly consuming artists of all stripes, she listened to the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Valerie June, Garbage, Frazey Ford, Lou Doillon, and Lucinda Williams. In late 2020, she finally dove into making what would become her full-length debut album, I Can't Let Go [Sub Pop Records] with producer Brad Cook [Snail Mail, Waxahatchee]. Now, she introduces this chapter with "Moves" and "My Mind." Her first album for Sub Pop, I Can't Let Go, produced by Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee) and released in May of 2022, is a testament to her powers as a singer and songwriter. The Milk Teeth EP rightly shines a spotlight on her pre-album material, giving these six songs their first physical release.

2018 release, the fourth studio album by British band Mumford & Sons. The album was recorded at The Church Studios in London with producer Paul Epworth. The album features the lead single, "Guiding Light". The band recorded more than 25 songs with Epworth and were intent on keeping the "collaborative spirit" of their live shows and 2016 EP Johannesburg. Marcus Mumford has said that much of the album was recorded in "non-gender specific Friday night lads sessions" with friends where they would play music, "smoke cigarettes and have a great time". Around 100 people were involved in these sessions, with some being featured on the record, including American singer-songwriters Maggie Rogers and Gill Landry.

Memoir of a Sparklemuffin - CD
Regular price $13.98 Save $-13.98Compact Disc
Suki Waterhouse's music sounds like a collage of her inspirations, experiences, and emotions stitched together by honeyed vocal delivery, bright-eyed melodies, and evocative storytelling. It doubles as a mirror image of her life as a consummate creative, artist, actress, model, and mother, yet it also breaks the glass to unveil raw truth. She leans on an ever-evolving sonic palette to convey what she's feeling-whether it be folky Americana, nineties alternative, turn-of-the-century indie, or handcrafted otherworldly pop. You'll hear Suki's longing in a swooning chorus, fearlessness in a crunchy chord, elation in a danceable waltz, and wonder in a soft coo befitting of a lullaby. She faithfully followed a lifelong passion for music to her 2022 full-length debut, I Can't Let Go. Adorned by "Moves" and "Melrose Meltdown," it incited widespread critical applause from Variety, Nylon, NME, The Line of Best Fit, and more. Between headlining shows and touring with Father John Misty, "Good Looking" surged online, generating nearly a billion streams, going RIAA platinum, and paving the way for the Milk Teeth EP. Simultaneously, she absorbed inspiration from a season of change earmarked by unforgettable moments a la gracing the stage of Lollapalooza 2023, performing on multiple continents, becoming a mom, and closing out the Gobi Tent at Coachella in 2024. Everything just set the stage for the gold-certified songstress to assert herself as a versatile, vibrant, and vital presence on her 2024 double-LP, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin.

I Can't Let Go - CD
Regular price $13.98 Save $-13.98Compact Disc
Nowadays, voice memos, videos, and pictures chronicle our lives in real-time. We trace where we've been and reveal where we're going. However, Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as singer, songwriter, actress but you'll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music. Memories of unrequited love, fits of longing, instances of anxiety, and unfiltered snapshots interlock like puzzle pieces into a mosaic of well-worn country, '90s-style alternative, and unassuming pop. She writes the kind of tunes meant to be grafted onto dusty old vinyl from your favorite vintage record store, yet perfect for a sun-soaked festival stage. Her first album for Sub Pop, I Can't Let Go, is a testament to her powers as a singer and songwriter.
In Suki's words: "The album is called I Can't Let Go because for years it felt like I was wearing heavy moments on my sleeve and it just didn't make sense to do so anymore. There's so much that I've never spoken about. Writing music has always been where it felt safe to do so. Every song for the record was a necessity. In many ways, I've been observing my life as an outsider, even when I've been on the inside. It's like I was a visitor watching things happen." Growing up in London, Suki gravitated towards music's magnetic pull. She listened to the likes of Alanis Morissette and Fiona Apple, and Oasis held a special place in her heart. She initially teased out this facet of her creativity with a series of singles, generating nearly 20 million total streams independently. Nylon hailed her debut track, "Brutally," as "what a Lana Del Rey deep cut mixed with Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides, Now' would sound like." In addition to raves from Garage, Vice and Lemonade Magazine, DUJOR put it best: "Suki Waterhouse's music has swagger." Suki is constantly consuming artists of all stripes, and, in the lead-up to making I Can't Let Go, she was particularly drawn to the work of Sharon Van Etten, Valerie June, Garbage, Frazey Ford, Lou Doillon, and Lucinda Williams. After falling in love with Hiss Golden Messenger's Terms of Surrender, she reached out to it's producer Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee) to help define the sound of I Can't Let Go. On I Can't Let Go, Suki not only catalogs her life up to this point, but she also fulfills a lifelong ambition. "When I've been stuck or feel out of touch with a sense of inner meaning and outer purpose, I've found both through searching my memories and finding those events buried in the shadowy areas of the psyche where they were ignored," she says. "So many times of change in my life have required return visits-especially at the transitions through to the next stages. The album is an exploration of those moments when there is nothing left to lose. What is left and can't be thrown away is the self."

Deluxe edition includes four bonus tracks and expanded booklet. 2015 release, the long-awaited third studio album by British folk rock band Mumford & Sons. Wilder Mind marks the end of Mumford and Sons' hiatus, which they took in 2013 after extensively touring behind Babel. The album moves away from the band's first two albums, adding more electric guitar to the mix and emphasizing the 'rock' side of the 'folk-rock' genre they've been lumped into. "We felt that doing the same thing, or the same instrumentation again, just wasn't for us," Marcus Mumford told Rolling Stone. This musical shift explains the reasoning behind Winston Marshall's switch from banjo to the electric guitar. Includes the single "Believe."

2018 release, the seventh full length album from dream pop band Beach House. "At it's release, we will have been a band for over 13 years. We have now written and released a total of 77 songs together. Throughout the process of recording 7, our goal was rebirth and rejuvenation. We wanted to rethink old methods and shed some self-imposed limitations. In the past, we often limited our writing to parts that we could perform live. On 7, we decided to follow whatever came naturally. As a result, there are some songs with no guitar, and some without keyboard. There are songs with layers and production that we could never recreate live, and that is exciting to us. Basically, we let our creative moods, instead of instrumentation, dictate the album's feel. For 7, we built a home studio, and began all of the songs there. Whenever we had a group of 3-4 songs that we were excited about, we would go to a "proper" recording studio and finish recording them there, in the process shortening the amount of time between the original idea and the finished song. 7 didn't have a producer in the traditional sense. James Barone, who became our live drummer in 2016, played on the entire record. We also worked with Sonic Boom (Peter Kember), who became a great force on this record by shedding conventions and helping to keep the songs alive, fresh and protected from the destructive forces of recording-studio over-production/over-perfection."

3 Feet High And Rising [Explicit Content] - CD
Regular price $18.98 Save $-18.983 Feet High and Rising is the debut studio album by hip hop trio de la Soul and was released on March 3, 1989. It marked the first of three full-length collaborations with producer Prince Paul, which would become the critical and commercial peak of both parties. Critically, as well as commercially, the album was a success. It contains the singles, "Me Myself and I", "The Magic Number, " "Buddy, " and "Eye Know". The album title came from the Johnny Cash song "Five Feet High and Rising". It is listed on Rolling Stone's 200 Essential Rock Records and The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. When Village Voice held it's annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll for 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising was ranked #1. It was also listed on the Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Released amid the 1989 boom in gangsta rap, which gravitated towards hardcore, confrontational, violent lyrics, de la Soul's uniquely positive style made them an oddity beginning with the first single, "Me, Myself and I". Their positivity meant many observers labeled them a "hippie" group, based on their declaration of the "D.A.I.S.Y. Age" (Da. Inner. Soul. Yall). Sampling artists as diverse as Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and The Turtles, 3 Feet High and Rising is often viewed as the stylistic beginning of 1990s alternative hip hop (and especially jazz rap).
