1989-1992 - Transparent Orange Vinyl
Regular price $25.99 Save $-25.99Getting their start as the 1980s bled into the 90s, Velocity Girl arose from a new pop underground that had been percolating in Washington, DC and it's suburbs, a group of bands clustered around our then-nascent Slumberland Records who broadened DC's punk paradigm with an ear for pop songs and feedback-driven racket. Velocity Girl, blessed with multiple gifted songwriters, particularly knew how to merge euphoric pop hooks with waves of noisy bliss and lovelorn melancholy.
This new compilation "1989-1992" covers the band's pre-Sub Pop years and shows that their skill with a tune was there from the beginning, across several line-up changes and numerous early releases. The all-time classic "Forgotten Favorite" is included, as is their debut single "I Don't Care If You Go," featuring original vocalist Bridget Cross (later of Unrest). There are also crucial split single and compilation contributions, a few choice covers (Beat Happening, The Jam) and even a pair of unreleased tunes. Newly remastered and featuring extensive liner notes by DC scene scholar John R. Davis, "1989-1992" is the comprehensive view of their early years that Velocity Girl has long deserved and their fans have long wanted.

Mpls Unplugged - Soul Asylum
Regular price $40.98 Save $-40.98Double vinyl LP pressing. MPLS Unplugged celebrates the 30th anniversary of the band's legendary MTV Unplugged performance in 1993, recorded live nearly 30 years later to the day at the State Theatre in Minneapolis on April 20, 2023. For the first time in decades, the band is captured stripped back and unplugged-echoing the spirit of their original MTV Unplugged session in 1993-while remaining deeply layered, expansive in feel, and emotionally resonant. Frontman Dave Pirner, is joined by guitarist Ryan Smith, bassist Jeremy Tapparo and drummer Michael Bland. Also returning is Ivan Neville on keys, alongside STRINGenius string quartet and the Robert Robinson gospel singers, honoring the lineup of the original 1993 session while modernizing the acoustic arrangements. Neville's connection to the band dates back to that original Unplugged session, where, as Pirner recalls, "he was the obvious choice... pretty magical-it just felt right." The set also digs deep into the band's catalog and celebrates Soul Asylum's electric and enduring live show, featuring two songs, "Farmer John" and "What Will Become of Me, " that have been played live over the years but never recorded or officially released. Their inclusion here gives fans a rare, fully realized take on songs that have only lived onstage, and an authentic glimpse into the singular energy of a Soul Asylum concert. More than four decades in, Soul Asylum continues to evolve while staying rooted in the emotional directness that first defined them, touring globally, playing over 100 shows a year and continuing to reach both longtime fans and new listeners.

Live! (IEX) Blue (Indie Exclusive, Colored Vinyl, Blue)
Regular price $44.99 Save $-44.99When Pulp made their return last year promising "more", they really weren't kidding. "More" was the title of the Sheffield band's first album in 24 years, and with songs that swooned, swaggered, sashayed and strutted, it quickly became a fan favorite amongst the group's starred catalog, topping charts at home and abroad. Then there was more... and "More"... onstage. Following the record's release last summer, Pulp hit the road, playing their own shows and headlining festivals the globe over. Songs from the new album enthralled and dazzled, while the modern masterpieces drawn from across Pulp's career moved hearts and minds as one. To celebrate and capture those moments of musical brilliance, and to offer listeners yet more again, this summer Pulp release "Live!", an album of recordings drawn from their iconic show at The O2 in London on 13 June 2025. An ultimate setlist, which saw the band deliver a two-part performance as they drew on songs from right across their storied career, "Live!" does not just showcase the dexterity and rich musical tapestry Pulp weave when they come together onstage; it also captures the spirit of their live shows. From moments of communal exhilaration to Jarvis Cocker's candid confessionals; heart-swelling outpourings of love, to arena-filling sing-a-longs; Pulp's words and music have always unlocked unique, intimate worlds making "Live!" a truly immersive portal to the place where those tracks 'come alive' - onstage. "A concert is an event where songs come back to life. That's why this album is called 'Live!'" explains Jarvis Cocker of this unique record in the Pulp canon. "It's both a statement of fact (it's a recording of a live band) & a challenge (come on! Everyone come alive!)."

Projector (IEX) (Indie Exclusive, Colored Vinyl, Orange, Reissue)
Regular price $25.98 Save $-25.98Geese is a band that begins and ends in Brooklyn, as a project between friends to build a home studio out of a basement. Their songs are born from the same ambition: make music by any means necessary. They began recording together with sneakers as mic stands and blankets draped over the amps, all within the afternoon following a school day, up until they ran the risk of noise complaints. Recently, they signed a record deal, so they are thinking about moving on from sneaker-laden mics and blanketed amps, but their musical ethos has not changed a bit. Curiously alien, yet strangely familiar, the band's debut album, Projector, is a product of five teenagers whose love of music touches every part of their lives: their restless anxiety about their futures, and their pent-up frustration with their present-a perspective all too familiar in today's uncertain world.

3D Country (IEX) (Indie Exclusive, Clear Vinyl, Red, Reissue)
Regular price $26.99 Save $-26.99In the summer of 2021, Geese emerged from out of nowhere, sparking a hype cycle unlike anything that had been seen for a young American rock band in recent memory. Suddenly a band that had previously planned to release some music, break up, and go away to college was touring the world. And during this entire process, that very same band everyone was getting to know ceased to exist. On a practical level, Geese are still the group we were introduced to in 2021. But spiritually, Geese have returned as an entirely different prospect. Their new album 3D Country is the sound of a restless, adventurous band redefining themselves. Anyone who has seen Geese live recently might've noticed the band adopted a different vibe onstage - more of a volcanic, unpredictable aesthetic. It turns out that wasn't a flipside to the recordings of Projector, but foreshadowing that there was more to the story. Knowing they were now beyond teenage basement experiments and were instead making something for an audience who would hear it, Geese felt emboldened. "When we were writing Projector it was about narrowing the scope, trying to do more with less," Gus Green says. "When we started writing for 3D Country we were trying to do a lot more and seeing what worked and what didn't." At the same time, they're well aware of how significant a departure they've made. "As music listeners, we all appreciate bands who change over time, and are comfortable with risk," Cameron Winter adds. It wasn't necessarily a given that Geese would overhaul their sound, but with age came new adventures and interests. "Maybe the last record was our teenage angst and 3D Country is our newfound twenty-something arrogance," he quips.

There Near
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Finally! The sixth studio album Dinosaur Jr. have recorded in the 20 years since their triumphal rebirth. Created in short, intense bursts over the course of a year at Amherst's Bisquiteen Studio, There Near was recorded almost entirely by Dino's core trio - king of the thunder tubs, Murph, human tornado Lou Barlow on bass/vocals and the inimitable J Mascis on guitar/vocals - with a bit of piano and organ work by local master musician, Ken Mauri. And the album roars from start to finish.
Trying to define the essence of Dino's sound is never easy. It's an instantly recognizable blend of loose vocals, sharp guitars and an animalistic rhythm section, but these parts combine into a whole far more magical and exciting than it's components. J's guitar tone throughout There Near is even more animalistic than usual, perhaps owing partly to the fact he's playing through a recently acquired 70's Mesa Boogie MK 1 amp. "I bought the same amp that Chris Dixon had when we made our first album," J says. "Chris recorded us at his house with his amp. It has a real interesting sound I haven't gotten for a while. And it's something I was trying to get back to on this album." Asked about the philosophical opacity of his lyrical approach, J says. "I'm not always sure what a song is 'about' when I'm writing it. I guess the meaning will present itself at some point. I'll use whatever words work. And a lot of it will be influenced by whatever esoteric mumbo jumbo I'm reading at the time. I try not to think too hard about any of it. Someone suggested this album sounds more upbeat, but I guess that's to do with my delivery, because lyrics like 'No Friends' might make you think otherwise. But I usually write in the third person. It's all just make believe." While it's true There Near does present a slightly softer lyrical edge on some of J's songs, even a relatively gorgeous ballad like "Put It Down" eventually explodes in a shower of fiery guitar distentions. It's just what happens. Meanwhile the two tunes provided by Lou - "Blowin' Up" and "No One's Ready" - may have less frenzied musical settings, but their lyrics sound like pointed and timely attacks on our current regime. As is so often the case, Lou's melodic constructions have a friendly mien, but his lyrics cut like knives. There Near continues Dinosaur Jr.'s string of classic albums. The new songs are sure to sound amazing with their monstrous riffs blaring from live stages amidst their historical brethren. Can't wait to catch them live, but in the meantime There Near will be a constant companion. The nearer the better.

Green Mind (Limited Edition, Picture Disc Vinyl, Anniversary Edition)
Regular price $39.99 Save $-39.99Formed in 1984, Dinosaur Jr carved a singular path through the latter half of the 1980s, issuing three highly-influential albums in the process before finding a home with Sire Records, who issued 'Green Mind' in 1991 as the alternative American rock scene the band had long been part of exploded globally. Produced by a stripped down line-up of the group (in fact, J Mascis himself plays almost everything), the album and Sire's international reach took Dinosaur Jr.'s reputation to a new level. This 90s masterpiece hasn't been available on picture disc since it's original release and is a must for fans and collectors around the world.

Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer [Explicit Content]
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Black Vinyl with Main Figure Artwork. A Collision of Worlds. A Convergence of Sound.
Czarface opens another portal. On Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer, the boundary between comic book canon and hip-hop reality dissolves. Frankie Pulitzer, also known in certain dimensions as FacePuller, is no ordinary collaborator, character, or catalyst. He is a hybrid entity: part human, part alien force, fully embedded in the expanding Czarface universe. Following landmark team-ups with MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah, Czarface continues it's "Meets" saga with a full-scale crossover event that pushes deeper into story and sound. Frankie's presence is both lyrical and mythological, bringing a chaotic, shape-shifting energy that challenges and complements Czarface's razor-sharp precision. Dusty drums, cinematic soundscapes, and razor-edged bars bring the classic Czarface sound, yet mutated. The universe widens with appearances from Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and El-P (of Run the Jewels), each adding their own gravitational pull to the project, thus grounding it in hip-hop legacy while amplifying it's larger-than-life scope.

The Early Days: Animalism, Pool Party, Crybaby
Regular price $39.98 Save $-39.98Silver Grape Vinyl. Began a decade ago as a Trifilio solo project, Beach Bunny have amassed a loyal fanbase thanks to things such as constant touring and collaborations with artists like Tegan and Sara and Marina. And today, Beach Bunny continues to nurture their community with appearances at Coachella and Lollapalooza and by curating their own Pool Party festivals in their hometown of Chicago.
So far, this approach has worked like a charm. The band-the name refers interchangeably to both Trifilio and the full band that also features bassist/lead guitarist Anthony Vaccaro and drummer Jon Alvarado-has landed viral hits such as the RIAA-certified Platinum "Prom Queen" and "Cloud 9" and the RIAA-certified Gold "Sports," and earned over a billion streams on Spotify alone plus countless appearances on critics' best of the year lists. 2022's Emotional Creature, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, while "Vertigo," the first single released from Tunnel Vision, became their highest charting song at AAA radio to date upon it's 2024 release.
