For Aesop Rock, the phrase "I heard it's a mess there too" started out as a lyric, but it didn't take long for that line to get it's hooks into him. It felt familiar, like a line he'd said a thousand times in recent years while checking in with friends across different cities, swapping stories about where each other are, and what's going on there. The more he sat with the phrase, the more it started to feel like the center of something bigger. I Heard It's A Mess There Too lives at the intersection of two personal urges for Aesop: the need to venture out and document your surroundings, and the desire to stay connected-especially when things feel uncertain.

Musically, Aesop Rock explores some new territory on the album. "I'd been building tracks the same way for many years," he says, "but I made a conscious shift in my process here. I tried out some new tools and attempted to make my beats cleaner, more minimal. The drums are more stripped back, the bass lines are allowed to just sit, without layering ten things on top. I didn't want the beat and the vocals competing for attention-I just wanted enough to get a wave rolling and not much more, just setting a mood I could move to." These twelve songs mark different stops along that path of tinkering and looking for something new.

On August 14th Goose will release it's fifth studio album, 'Chain Yer Dragon'. "There's a world-building component that feels like the driving force of this record," Mitarotonda said. "Many of these character-driven songs come from a time and place where we were finding our voice musically and it's been so gratifying to not only revisit it through the lens of who and where we are now, but to expand on it. These songs have been on a journey, and it feels right for them to finally have a home now." 'Chain Yer Dragon' offers personalities, locales, and music to get lost in. Lyrical callbacks and textured storytelling tell a story that, while not linear, feels cohesive. The record pushes Goose's ever-expanding musical catalog forward while serving as a reminder that sometimes, to go forward, you have to embrace the past.

Anthology 4, is newly curated by Giles Martin, including 13 previously-unreleased session outtakes dating from 1963 to 1969. It also includes the band’s final single, ‘Now And Then’, released in 2023, and new mixes of The Beatles’ Anthology-associated hit singles: the GRAMMY-winning ‘Free As A Bird’ and ‘Real Love’, given new life by their original producer, Jeff Lynne, using de-mixed John Lennon vocals. Fionn Regan's 2024 album O Avalanche, available on vinyl for the first time.

  "I float sometimes when you're around," sings Irish singer-songwriter Fionn Regan on "Islands", setting the weightlessly romantic tenor for his seventh album. Written in Spain, O Avalanche is an album of levitating intimacies, abstract and intuitive yet infused with a tangible sense of the elevating ties between environment and emotion. Between it's sun-dappled backdrops and lambent arrangements, the result is a set of sublime songs and something more: it's a record to float with, immersive, uplifting and transporting.   His first since 2019's beautiful Cala, it's also an album that is, in Fionn's words, "very much on a level" - shimmering with poetic mystery and bolstered by a sustained feel for atmosphere and shape. As Fionn explains, "I see it sort of like a film that starts cinematically and develops in abstract ways. It moves in different sequences, backwards and forwards. And if you're thinking about it in a visual way, there's a quality about it where it's always magic hour."   "I feel like the album has got quite a lot of bottled-summer energy running through it," says Fionn. It took him two or three albums' worth of material to find the songs that felt simpatico - the ones that "started to hang out together and fought their way to becoming the album". Capturing the mood, Fionn wrote the record while staying in Majorca, a place he describes as his "true north": "There's a sense of an artistic energy there, where you step back a little from the main drag of bigger cities. You're sat there in the mountains looking towards the cities, rather than the other way. There's a kind of focus, a feeling that you're tuned in to something."   Co-produced with Ian Grimble, O Avalanche steers Regan's off-the-main-drag feel for climate and landscape towards another creative peak, forging a record to lose yourself in. "It's like you're looking into this world where there's a depth of field, it's summer, and you're floating into and out of it," he says of the album. "The songs can come together in the moment, so it's not a conscious thing, but when I listen to the record it feels like there's an eternal optimism about it - a kind of upward-feeling energy." With the gentlest of touches, O Avalanche will sweep you off your feet.
