Kid A
Regular price $42.98 Save $-42.98Known for their explorative and restless sound, taking influence from old style rock like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Pink Floyd as well as from electronica and hip hop, each of Radiohead's albums marks a cornerstone in their musical evolution. Debut Pablo Honey (1993) was their answer to grunge while follow-up albums The Bends (1995) and OK Computer (1997) offered atmospheric, almost avant-garde tones.
With the near impossible task of following up their critically acclaimed masterpiece OK Computer, Radiohead took another bold leap at the turn of the millennium with 2000's Kid A, an experimental album built largely around the union of electronica and mood. Musically, Kid A is as accomplished as anything Radiohead has ever produced and it's overflowing with eye-opening musical mosaics which are absolutely stunning in their insight and beauty.
Kid A initially proved to be controversial as critics labeled the mixture of electronic beats, jazz horns and strings as "difficult" but tracks like the soaring "Optimistic" kept fans loyal and saw Radiohead crowned as masters of composition. A left-field hit, Kid A was eventually nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year and won for Best Alternative Album.

Legends Never Die
Regular price $43.98 Save $-43.98As a testament to his enduring legacy and fervent fanbase, Juice WRLD's new album, Legends Never Die, landed at the top of the Billboard 200 with the biggest week of album sales in 2020. The critically-acclaimed artist's third record not only stands as one of the most successful posthumous debuts ever – second only to Notorious B.I.G.'s Life After Death and Tupac's R U Still Down, both from 1997 – but also marks the biggest album debut, in total consumption, since Taylor Swift's massively successful Lover. Featuring 22 tracks, Legends Never Die includes such songs as "Wishing Well," "Come & Go" with Marshmello, "Righteous," "Tell Me U Luv Me" with Trippie Redd, and "Life's a Mess," featuring Halsey. In addition to its commercial success, Legends Never Die was also embraced by critics. Eight Arms to Hold You
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Vinyl LP pressing. Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Outpost Records, Eight Arms To Hold You is the second full-length studio album from the alt-rock band, originally released in 2007. This was the last album to feature original band members Nina Gordon, Louise Post, Steve Lack, and Jim Shapiro until the 2015 reunion album. The album features hit "Volcano Girls". The title of the album is a reference to the working title for The Beatles' film eventually titled Help! Named after Veruca Salt, the spoiled rich girl from the children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (and it's 1971 film adaptation Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory), Veruca Salt was formed in Chicago. Songwriting was shared between Gordon and Post, though the two seldom collaborated. Rather, each would typically submit a complete song to the group and sing the lead vocal on that song, while the other would record backing vocals.

Strangeways, Here We Come
Regular price $27.98 Save $-27.98Vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition of this 1987 release from the legendary British quartet, their final studio album. With producer Stephen Street, The Smiths created a subtly shaded and skilled album, one boasting a fuller production than before. Morrissey and Marr labored hard over the songs, working to expand the band's sound within their boundaries. In doing so they created the classic tracks "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish," "Girlfriend in a Coma," "Stop Me if You Think You've Heard This One Before," and "I Won't Share You". This, the highest charting of all their albums, easily offers a summary of the band's considerable strengths.

The Head on the Door
Regular price $27.98 Save $-27.98The Cure Head On The Door on 180g LP
Originally a postpunk outfit with gothic leanings, The Cure evolved into one of the most visionary, creatively satisfying and influential groups to come of age in the 1980's. From dreamy pop to moody expressionism, their signature sound is adventurous, hypnotic, and rich with texture. Formed in 1976 by Robert Smith and schoolmates Michael Dempsey (bass) and Laurence Tolhurst (drums), The Cure's stunning 1979 debut on U.K.-based Fiction Records launched an extraordinary career and enduring worldwide popularity.
The Cure's 1985 album Head On The Door - their sixth full-length overall - marked another turning point for the band with its emerging pop sensibilities and talented new line-up that saw the return of bassist Simon Gallup, the re-induction of early-era guitarist Porl Thompson, and the debut of drummer Boris Williams. Co-produced with David M. Allen, the adventurous 10-track effort is still dark yet danceable and altogether infectious, home to the vibrant hit singles "In Between Days" and "Close To Me." Head On The Door was the first glimpse of the pop heights the Cure was perfectly capable of reaching.

One of the two masterpieces of the second half of their career as a rock band, The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour" is solid rock 'n' roll and songcraft on a lot of mind-altering substances. Nobody writes "I Am the Walrus" or "Strawberry Fields Forever" without having experienced a significant amount of LSD. Yet, the lads from Liverpool keep it together for other great tunes such as "Hello Goodbye," "Penny Lane," "Baby, You're a Rich Man" and the classic "All You Need Is Love." Mix that in with the high-energy title track, and you have one of The Beatles' best albums. Siamese Dream
Regular price $49.98 Save $-49.98Originally released in 1993, Siamese Dream is the breakthrough second album from the Smashing Pumpkins and one of the finest to ever come out of the alt-rock movement. Co-produced with Butch Vig and instrumentally recorded almost entirely by bandleader Billy Corgan himself, the guitar-heavy affair generated no less than four hit singles in "Cherub Rock," "Today," "Disarm" and "Rocket."
Built on rich, layered sonics and inherent dynamic tension, Siamese Dream stands alongside Nirvana's Nevermind and Soundgarden's Superunknown as the defining albums of the decade and alt-rock's Mount Rushmore.
"Siamese Dream was loaded with melodies, from 'Luna' to the scorched overdrive of 'Cherub Rock,' Corgan’s raised middle finger to the independent-rock scene that never embraced him. The feeling was mutual. Corgan wrote his share of clunky lyrics ('Life’s a bummer when you’re a hummer') but they spoke with a directness that Cobain’s more poetically inclined words sometimes lacked. Corgan was a stoop-shouldered suburban misfit from a splintered household, much like many in his audience, and Siamese Dream became a soundtrack for a significant portion of his generation."

Badmotorfinger
Regular price $30.98 Save $-30.98Soundgarden certainly seized their moment with the release of 1991's Badmotorfinger, the follow-up to 1989's critically-acclaimed Louder Than Love. Produced once again by Terry Date (Pantera, White Zombie, Helmet), it's one of the definitive albums from alt-rock's heyday, propelling the heavy-minded Seattle rock quartet into the mainstream for good. Anchored by Chris Cornell's wide range and soulful wails, the band's third studio effort remains as good today as it did in the early-90s, sparked by amazing songwriting and deep grooves found on cornerstone cuts like "Jesus Christ Pose," "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage." Earning a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance, it became Soundgarden's highest-charting album on the Billboard Album chart at the time and has been certified 2x-platinum by the RIAA in the U.S.

Another One
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Vinyl LP pressing. 2015 mini album release from the Canadian singer/songwriter. Like the days of Steely Dan or Harry Nilsson releasing a classic album every year (or less) comes Mac DeMarco’s Another One, a mini LP announced one year after the release of the meteorically successful Salad Days. Written and recorded during the downtime between a relentless touring schedule, Another One is an eight-track release that expands the arsenal of Mac’s already impressive catalog, showing the maturity of Mac’s progression as songwriter: it’s a bit more refined, a bit more sophisticated, but nonetheless retains the guts and soul of classic Mac. Despite working at the same pace as artists like Creedence and The Rolling Stones, coupled with an equally unending schedule of touring and press, it’s odd that Mac is labeled as a slacker. With two full-lengths and two EPs released and hundreds of sold out shows performed in the last several years, a recent late night television debut on Conan following a special performance on The Eric Andre Show, it seems, as Mac nears his 25th birthday, there’s not a slack bone in the man’s body. Great songwriters don’t need to reinvent themselves; they just need to keep going and let the songs out in the world. Thus, here’s Another One.

The Smiths
Regular price $28.98 Save $-28.98With synthesizers and mind-numbing excess on the rise, The Smiths took the road less traveled, challenging listeners with outspoken lyrics and taunting guitars. With their eponymous 1984 debut, The Smiths began their tenure as the definitive British indie rock band as well as the torchbearers of a new musical era. Johnny Marr's inventive songwriting and Morrissey's unconventional croon made for an evocative sound that was both innovative and timeless. Songs about homosexuality ("Hand in Glove") and child molestation and murder ("Suffer Little Children") enshrouded the band in controversy and cult-like devotion, both of which would only grow from here.

Originally recorded in December 1986, the song made its debut on the 2018 box set Appetite For Destruction. In 2004, Greatest Hits reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and in 2007 hit No. 1 on the Catalog Albums chart. Featuring all eight of the band's Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 tracks (six of them RIAA-certified Gold), Greatest Hits spans the group's five album releases, including their cover of the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy For The Devil" for the 1995 film Interview With The Vampire.
The first full-length album from Guns N' Roses, 1987's Appetite For Destruction, is one of the most popular hard rock albums in history and has been on the Billboard Top 200 albums or Top Pop Catalog chart for a total of 746 weeks. Certified 18 times platinum in the U.S., Appetite For Destruction charted No. 1 for five weeks and includes three Top 10s: the anthem "Welcome To The Jungle" (No. 7), the frenzied rocker "Paradise City" (No. 5) plus their platinum selling No. 1 single "Sweet Child O' Mine."
1988's G N'R Lies, comprised of songs from the group's independently-released 1986 EP Live?!*@Like A Suicide plus new studio recordings, followed Appetite For Destruction up the charts, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The Grammy-nominated album (for Best Hard Rock Performance) was five times platinum (each platinum level connotes sales of more than one million units) and claimed the gold No. 4-charting ballad "Patience."
Then, on September 17, 1991, with one of the most anticipated releases ever in music, both Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted. Use Your Illusion I featured two gold singles with "November Rain" (No. 3) and "Don't Cry" (No. 10) plus another Top 40 with "Live And Let Die" (No. 33). Use Your Illusion II boasted another gold hit with the previously-released single "You Could Be Mine" (No. 29), heard in the film Terminator II: Judgement Day.
Each of the Use Your Illusion albums went seven times platinum with Use Your Illusion I going to No. 2 and Use Your Illusion II hitting No. 1. Use Your Illusion I was Grammy-nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance as was the Wings cover "Live And Let Die." Guns N' Roses Greatest Hits also culls from II "Yesterdays," "Civil War" and GN'R's take on Bob Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door." Rattle and Hum
Regular price $32.99 Save $-32.99Rattle and Hum was the album that saw U2 build a bridge from the studio to the silver screen, with some superstar collaborations along the way. The incredible global success of The Joshua Tree was an undeniable staging post in a story that was already more than a decade old. But U2 have never been a band simply to press repeat. Now they saw the opportunity to create something different again, a record of what they had just achieved and a signpost to where they were heading next. Hence the typically innovative combination of a full-scale film to commemorate the epic tour for The Joshua Tree, and a companion double album that contained live elements, but also stood tall as their sixth studio release. All of this little more than 18 months after the album that had rewritten industry records and taken the band to the very top of their profession.
The Rattle and Hum movie was filmed in Denver, CO at the McNichols Sports Arena in November 1987. It captured the overwhelming ebullience of a U2 concert, from the opening cover of the Beatles' White Album romp "Helter Skelter" to valedictory closer "Pride (In The Name Of Love)." But, far from taking the easy option of a simultaneous album equivalent to the film, by the spring of 1988 U2 were at work on a very different type of companion release. Even as they oversaw post-production of the Phil Joanou-directed rock documentary, the band started to lay down new material, both in L.A. and Sun Studios in Memphis, for what would become Rattle and Hum, the album. At the end of September, U2 announced their return with one of the most exhilarating singles of their career. "Desire" was a breathless, vein-bursting nod to the punk-before-there-was-punk sound of the Stooges, itself distilled from a nucleus of the Bo Diddley beat. After a UK debut at No. 3, which equalled their best-ever peak with "Pride" four years before, "Desire" climbed to the top to give U2 their first British No. 1 single. It went on to land a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal.
Hard on its heels, the album rattled and hummed into view in October. Time magazine called it "the best live rock album ever made," but it was even more than that. Produced by Jimmy Iovine, it incorporated recordings from the Denver shows, others from San Francisco, New York and Tempe, Arizona, as well as new studio material and some truly striking collaborations. Rattle and Hum debuted on the British chart at No. 1 and by November was sitting atop the American charts as well. Its four hit singles - "Desire," "Angel of Harlem," "When Love Comes to Town" and "All I Want Is You" - kept U2 in singles top tens all over the world for months.

The Queen is Dead
Regular price $28.98 Save $-28.98It's pretty safe to say that most view The Queen Is Dead as the best full-length studio effort ever offered by the Smiths. It arrived in June of 1986 to a rapturous critical reception and its reputation has remained consistent ever since, with "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" in particular having gone on to be seen as a stone-cold classic even by those who aren't full-fledged Smiths fans. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a publication on either side of the pond that doesn't acknowledge it as one of the greatest albums of the whole decade, thanks to songs like the dance-hall fun of "Frankly, Mr. Shankly," the impeccably depressing two-fer of "I Know It's Over" and "Never Had No One Ever," the jangly fun of "Cemetry Gates," and even the silliness of "Vicar in a Tutu."

Singles
Regular price $37.98 Save $-37.98Newly Expanded/Remastered Deluxe 25th Anniversary Edition of the Acclaimed Soundtrack from Cameron Crowe's 1992 Film That Introduced a New Seattle Rock Sound to the World!
The 25th anniversary of Cameron Crowe's groundbreaking 1992 romantic comedy, Singles, is being commemorated with the release of a newly expanded and remastered edition of the film's integral Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The 2LP edition features the album's original 13 tracks newly mastered and freshly pressed across four sides of collectible 12″ vinyl plus a bonus CD of rarities and unreleased tracks included as a special insert. The newly expanded edition of the film's soundtrack was produced by Danny Bramson and Crowe and mastered by Mike Piacentini at Battery Studios, New York and includes liner notes – and a track-by-track description of the album's music written especially for this collection by Crowe
The newly released bonus CD (included with the 2LP-set) features previously unreleased recordings by Chris Cornell, Mike McCready, Mudhoney, and Paul Westerberg in addition to rarities such as Cornell's 1992 EP Poncier (debuting an early rendition of "Spoonman") and tracks from the film not included on the best-selling soundtrack album first released on June 30, 1992. It also includes "Touch Me I'm Dick," the signature track from Singles performed by Citizen Dick (a fictional band created for the film featuring frontman Matt Dillon backed by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament).
25 years ago, the film Singles and its soundtrack worked together to bring the underground Seattle music scene to the forefront of mainstream consciousness. The album was among the first top-selling movie soundtracks of the 1990s to showcase new material from emerging contemporary acts including Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden - while Paul Westerberg, in his first solo recordings outside The Replacements – contributed two songs and provided the score for the film. Smashing Pumpkins were also featured on the soundtrack with the song "Drown."
"The album itself was always designed to be sort of an anti-soundtrack, more like a souvenir and a simple mix-tape of some of Seattle's finest," said Cameron Crowe. "It really is and was a tribute to those hard-working bands that welcomed me to their city with open arms, and the music so many still love so much. Anyway, here we are now revisiting ‘Singles,' the film, as well as the soundtrack you hold in your hands, expanded with a special tip of the hat to the fans of the original release. Included are unreleased and raw elements that helped shape the experience of making the movie back in 1991. Hope you enjoy the trip back as much as I did – Viva Seattle!"

Hopes and Fears
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98As indie music enjoyed its resurgence in the mid 2000s, UK south coast three-piece Keane offered a thoughtful counterpoint to guitar squall. Their runaway 2004 debut, Hopes And Fears, featured well-written songs, anchored by delicate piano-based melodies. Certified Platinum nine times, the album hit the top of the UK album charts beating out Morrissey's You Are the Quarry along the way. The ballad "Somewhere Only We Know" became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, and Keane received two BRITs (for Best Breakthrough Act and Best Album 2005) while earning a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Hopes And Fears went on to become the second highest-selling record of the year in the UK, barely losing out to the Scissor Sisters' debut.
