Universal Mother
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Sinéad O'Connor is widely regarded as one of the most influential female performers of the '90s, not only for her sensational performances and raw vocal emotion but also for her outspoken confidence to express herself publicly. Sinéad was born in Dublin in 1966, and was discovered by Paul Byrne, drummer of U2 protégés In Tua Nua, while singing wedding covers in the city. Released in September 1994, Universal Mother was described by Sinéad as "the first attempt to try to expose what was really underneath a lot of the anger of the other records". The album features sparse, striking but delicate arrangements on intense and honest songs. All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
Regular price $23.98 Save $-23.98Vinyl LP pressing includes digital download. Architects UK are a band who've never shied away from challenging the world around them. Long lauded as some of modern metal's most progressive-thinking minds, for the past decade, the quintet have pushed boundaries, redefined genres, and never feared having to question themselves in order for their art to leave it's mark on this Earth. Architects UK, are a band like few others; The quintet all practice a vegan lifestyle, tour with a consciousness about their footprint on the world, and devote time and energies to environmental causes. Their 7th studio album, All Out Gods Have Abandoned Us is the heaviest and darkest work to which the band have ever put their name, both on and below it's surface. "To me, All Our Gods... is about getting to the root of the dysfunctions and disillusionment that cause all of this mess, be it personal or political or environmental," says Architects UK guitarist and principle songwriter, Tom Searle. Architects UK lineup also includes Tom's twin brother Dan on drums, Sam Carter on lead vocals, guitarist Adam Christianson and Ali Dean on bass. For the follow-up to their 2014 album Lost Forever/Lost Together, Architects UK returned to Gothenburg's Studio Fredman and the production team of Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd and it was they who would once again be entrusted to help translate the tracks penned by Tom Searle into a reality.

Recipe for Hate - Anniversary Edition - Transluscent Tigers Eye
Regular price $26.98 Save $-26.98Transluscent Tigers Eye LP. From the opening strains of the politico title-track to the countrified pedal steel guitar on "Man With A Mission," from the anti-establishment anthem "American Jesus," to the heart rending ballad "Struck A Nerve," Bad Religion's "Recipe For Hate" is by far their most eclectic album, and one that never ceases to stir up controversy among fans. Graffin, a seething combination of perfect pitch and skeptical emotion, reaffirms his place as one of the best punk rock vocalists on this record. Guest appearances abound, from Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam fame) harmonizing on "American Jesus" and "Watch it Die," to Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano's stunning vocals on "Struck A Nerve," to Claw Hammer's John Wahl and Chris Bagarozzi's searing guitar leads on "Kerosene. " As the songwriting team of Graffin/Gurewitz pull back from their more introspective writing that appeared on some of the previous albums, they focus ever more keenly on the events of the day. "Recipe For Hate" is a scathing commentary on the state of the nation, a social criticism addressing alcoholism, abortion and homelessness. Reissued on limited edition Tigers Eye Translucent vinyl to celebrate the album's 30th anniversary!

The Magic Tree
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Vinyl LP pressing. 2018 release from the veteran singer/songwriter. Big City Cat - My Life in Folk-Rock is singer/songwriter Steve Forbert's exceptional new memoir, co-written with Therese Boyd in which he most candidly reflects on those specific circumstances that first brought him to the public eye. Sharing reflections and journals he kept at the time, he weaves an absorbing narrative that fully addresses the trials, travails and triumphs that would eventually play out over the course of his prolific 40+ year career including encounters with the Ramones, Sam Phillips, Keith Richards, Doc Pomus, Levon Helm and other notables along the way. The book is accompanied by it's own soundtrack as well, an evocative album entitled The Magic Tree that offers a series of songs gleaned from previously recorded acoustic demos, augmented with new backing tracks and fleshed out as a series of songs that ring with the verve and vitality that Forbert's fans have always come to expect. Consistently upbeat and optimistic, they convey a firm sense that age ought not diminish a lust for living. Then again, that's been Forbert's mantra ever since the beginning: honoring his past while plowing his way towards the future in a mindful, soulful and revelatory way.

Moving Through America
Regular price $30.98 Save $-30.98Years before Americana music earned it's own category at the Grammy Awards, Steve Forbert helped pioneer the genre's mix of folk, roots-rock, and richly delivered storytelling. He's been a torchbearer of that sound for more than four decades since, navigating the twists and turns of an acclaimed career that's taken him from gold records to Grammy nominations, from New York City's CBGB to Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, from his 1978 debut album to 2022's vital and versatile Moving Through America. Backed by the same band that appeared on his collection of cover songs, Early Morning Rain, in 2020, Steve Forbert fills Moving Through America with songs that are every bit as spirited as "Romeo's Tune," his Top 20 hit from 1979's gold-certified Jackrabbit Slim. The album marks the latest chapter in a story that's still unfolding, with Forbert serving as an elder statesman of Americana music while continuing to create music that's spry and steadfast

Streets Of This Town: Revisited
Regular price $29.99 Save $-29.99STEVE FORBERT - STREETS OF THIS TOWN Back in print on 40-gram vinyl after 28 years, Steve Forbert's 1988 album, Streets of This Town, was his first opportunity to record and release an album after several years of a legal impasse with CBS. Moving to NYC from his native Mississippi, Forbert bust on the scene with "Romeo's Tune" in 1979 and put out several more albums with his label, CBS, before reaching an impasse with them. The songs on Streets Of This Town were written during his 1984 to 1988 during this period, giving him years to develop and road test the songs. He moved from Greenwich Village to Nashville, continuing to write and tour with his band, The Rough Squirrels, and caught the ear of E Street bassist Garry Tallent, who brought the band into his Long Branch, NJ studio to produce Streets Of This Town. The songs chronicle the the trials and tribulations of four years of recording-artist purgatory and became Forbert's first album for Geffen Records. Streets Of This Town got an enthusiastic reception - Rolling Stone called it "the best record he has ever made" in their 4-star review and the Washington Post dubbed it "the most moving and consistent album of his career."

The Secret Migration
Regular price $41.99 Save $-41.99Double vinyl LP pressing. Originally issued in January 2005, 'The Secret Migration' was the sixth album by Mercury Rev. In the UK, where the band were signed to V2, the album spawned two singles, 'In A Funny Way' and 'Across Yer Ocean'. Back in 2020, Cherry Red unveiled a deluxe 5CD edition of this sometimes overlooked album, compiled and co-ordinated in conjunction with Mercury Rev's twin lynchpins, Jonathan Donaghue and Sean 'Grasshopper' Mackowiak. Four years on, 'The Secret Migration' is treated to it's first-ever reissue on vinyl - and with the added bonus of a second disc. Joining the original album are various B-sides and originally unissued out-takes. Among the bonus are cover versions of Bobby Charles' Bearsville gem 'Tennessee Blues'; 'Afraid', originally by Chicago rock band Dovetail Joint; two Paul Westerberg songs, The Replacements' 'Androgynous' and his solo effort 'Good Day'; Daniel Johnston's 'Blue Clouds'; and 'I Never Had It So Good' by Paul Williams. Formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1989, MERCURY REV quick grew to become leading figures in left field alternative rock. Earlier albums veered towards experimental, off-kilter psychedelia but by the end of the decade, the band had developed their own brand of serene, piano-based Americana with the acclaimed, best-selling LP 'Deserter's Songs' (1998). Mercury Rev are currently active with forthcoming shows over the coming months around a brand new studio album.

They call it a loophole because it hasn't been linear, it hasn't been promoted, it hasn't been announced and popularized and pushed through the press. Blame it on the Latino and Asian kids streaming the sh*t out of their trifecta of indie-rock records or the internet's international party knuckles banging at their digital door 24/7, but Last Dinosaurs are erupting.
