Lee Hazlewoodism: Its Cause & Cure
Regular price $29.99 Save $-29.99Lee Hazlewood's second album for MGM had something of a split personality, though both sides were an accurate depiction of various sides of his musical mind. Released in 1967, Lee Hazlewoodism: It's Cause and Cure opens with five story-songs, most of which are dramatic narratives in which Hazlewood speaks rather than sings, approaching his recitations with all the seriousness he can muster, while Billy Strange's arrangements provide elaborate but understated accompaniment. Elsewhere, the album's second half finds Hazlewood in broader and more playful form. The album received a * rating on AllMusic, with reviewer Mark Deming stating that "The unifying theme of this album is simply Hazlewood being Hazlewood, with a crew of first-call studio pros helping him realize his vision (or sometimes his whims) as the Playboy Philosopher of the L.A. Cowboy Set. This LP reflects his wit and talents better than most."

The band also includes members Pete Denton (The Kooks), Ben Gordon (The Dead 60s), Glenn Moule (Howling Bells) and Tom Dawson. Their debut album with Chrysalis Rec rds is a collection of dreamy-pop sounds inspired by the likes of REM, The Strokes, Daft Punk, Cigarettes After Sex and Mac Demarco. The sound of Everyone Says Hi is owed to what Nick calls 'analogue hour': "After dinner at my house, we listen to a record, no phones, TV, or remote control, just put it on and take it all in." Nick remarks on the feelings of wanting to create an album that focuses on authenticity over production "I wanted to make an album that I'd listen to at night on the record player" "The band's approach to the changing music landscape is pragmatic yet passionate" - DORK

Hymnal of a Troubled Man's Mind
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Oliver Anthony Music's passionate voice, featuring a unique and emotional rasp shaped by his personal battles, captures the despair of those living without hope, especially those who live in small-town or rural America. With lyrics that "give a voice to the feelings of people who often get left out of popular discourse and pop culture" (NPR), Oliver Anthony became the first artist in history to debut at No. One on the Billboard charts without previously having a song on the charts with his hit song "Rich Men North of Richmond." The song has been streamed more than 153 million times on YouTube and has tallied more than 433 million across all streaming platforms. He is the first living male songwriter to chart 13 songs simultaneously in Billboard's Top 50 Digital Song Sales. Five of his other songs have made iTunes' Top 10, including "Ain't Got a Dollar," which also claimed the No. One spot on Spotify's Viral 50 list. In April, he released his first studio album, Hymnal Of A Troubled Man's Mind; the dynamic 11-song collection "hits on an emotional, nostalgic musing of childhood joy compared to adulthood strife. These ideas expound on facets of human existence untouched by the political realm, no matter which camp you find yourself on" (American Songwriter). Produced by Grammy winner Dave Cobb, the album was praised by fans and critics for it's "homespun sound" that shines light on "his grainy, soulful vocal with acoustic guitars, bass and fiddle" (Billboard).

Tana Talk 4
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Double vinyl LP pressing. Benny the Butcher blazed a trail as an elite voice in rap's underground to become a top artist in all of music. The prolific Buffalo, New Yorker has established two legendary (and concurrent) album series, broken bread with industry leaders, and twice reached the Billboard Top 40 albums chart as an independent. Now Benny sets the table for a definitive 2022. Soon, he will unveil his highly-anticipated Tana Talk 4. By 2004, Benny combined these experiences to launch the Tana Talk series while on house arrest. As TT3 promised, Benny delivered two volumes of The Plugs I Met, in 2019 and 2021, on his Black Soprano Family imprint. In between, Benny inked with Roc Nation management and made songs with Drake, Lil Wayne, Black Thought, and Freddie Gibbs. He also partnered with Grammy-winning producer Hit-Boy to flaunt his range on 2020's acclaimed Burden Of Proof. If the third installment of Tana Talk made Benny a formidable presence in Rap, Volume 4 propels him to stardom. Debut single "Johnny P's Caddy" partners The Butcher with J. Cole over The Alchemist production. Al' and Daringer handle the album's music, just as they seamlessly did on TT3. Conway, Westside Gunn, 38 Spesh and more guest on TT4, as does Stove God Cooks. Benny's skills and authenticity have cemented his place in the game. However, in a career defined by will and perseverance, The Butcher's blade keeps getting sharper.

Antifragile
Regular price $25.98 Save $-25.98"ANTIFRAGILE" marks All That Remains' first full length release since 2018. All That Remains have built an unbreakable axis between pit-splitting metal and anthemic melodies. This signature balance has defined the platinum-certified band's output since day one. It's why the quintet- Philip Labonte [lead vocals], Jason Richardson [lead guitar], Mike Martin [rhythm guitar], Anthony Barone [drums], and Matt Deis [bass]-have notched multiple Top 10 Active Rock Radio hits, sold out shows worldwide, and generated over half-a-billion streams. For as far as they've come, they've never lost sight of the cold Massachusetts underground where the guys first cut their teeth, preserving the same spirit without compromise. They've weathered the changing tides of a fickle business, unspeakable tragedy, and all manner of conflict only to come out stronger than ever on the other side. This strength surges through their tenth full-length album and first independent offering. The album embodies everything All That Remains are at the highest level. "I think we've managed to forge our own identity independent of every other group," notes Phil. "From our scene, we were among a very few bands who didn't go on a long-term hiatus, stop playing, or find other jobs. All That Remains has been what I do for the last 20 years. The fact that we managed to dodge all of the trends and be ourselves is something I'm very proud of." By sticking to their guns, All That Remains have continued to thrive on their own terms as well. Among many accolades, signature hit "Two Weeks" received a platinum certification from the RIAA, while "What If I Was Nothing" and their cover of "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks each reached gold status. Meanwhile, 2008's Overcome went gold, and For We Are Many cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Not to mention, they have scored five Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart, landing four in the Top 5. During 2022, the group launched a successful sold-out anniversary tour in celebration of their seminal LP The Fall of Ideals-which Revolver hailed as "one of metalcore's most essential records" and Loudwire christened "a genre-defining album." However, they have also endured trials and tribulations that might've ended most bands. Following the death of original lead guitarist Oli Herbert, the band welcomed Jason Richardson to the fold. "We spent a long time trying to figure out what All That Remains looks like without Oli," admits Phil. "It was weird, and it's probably why it took so long to get started. We remodeled our studio too. Except for what we'd written in my mom's basement, everything we'd made with Oli was done in that studio. The dynamic was different. Mike has written a whole lot more on this record. At the same time, Jason has his own style and sound, and it's filtered through what we do." Ultimately, All That Remains are still standing strong. "I'm incredibly grateful to anyone who has listened to our music or come to a show," Phil leaves off. "We survived in a changing business and world. I'm hugely satisfied with the success we've seen, but there's so much more to come. If you were a fan before, I think you're going to be a fan of this record." - Rick Florino, December 2023
