Tapestry
Regular price $25.98 Save $-25.9850th Anniversary Vinyl LP Reissue with Gatefold Packaging!
In 1972, in a first for a female writer/artist, the zeitgeist-shifting Tapestry won all three of the key Grammy Awards – record, song and album of the year – as well as best female vocalist honors for Carole King. With more than 25 million units sold, Tapestry remained the best-selling album by a female artist for a quarter century. It was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 15 consecutive weeks and remained on the Billboard charts for more than 300 weeks. Produced by Lou Adler, Tapestry's songs are woven into the fabric of pop culture. With iconic tracks like "(You Make Me Feel) Like A Natural Woman" and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," this is the album that cemented King's reputation as the quintessential singer-songwriter, defining a new generation of music.
The 1971 effort included songs which were all written or co-written by Carole. Several of the songs on the album had already been hits for other artists such as Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and The Shirelles "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" both of which were co-written with Gerry Goffin. Also listed as a co-writer on "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" is Jerry Wexler. Another song, "Smackwater Jack" was also co-written with Goffin and two songs, "It's Too Late" and "Where You Lead," were co-written by Carole and Toni Stern.
In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Carole King's iconic album, Tapestry, Sony Legacy is excited to be reissuing the album on gatefold vinyl LP!

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
Regular price $37.98 Save $-37.98The Foo Fighters Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace On Vinyl LP
In 1997, Foo Fighters teamed with alt-rock production cornerstone Gil Norton to make their best album, The Colour and the Shape. Ten years later, they've regrouped with Norton for a disc that's more sophisticated and diverse, if a tad less rockin'. The curveballs include "Stranger Things Have Happened," a solo soul-searcher where leader Dave Grohl's accompanied by just his acoustic guitar and a ticking metronome, and "Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners," an acoustic guitar duet for Grohl and guest virtuoso Kaki King. Plus "Summers End" tickles the Foos' classic-rock fetish with a dead-on Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young arrangement. There's still enough of the intense, snarling power-pop that's Foo Fighters' longtime forte. "The Pretender," "Erase/Replace," and "Long Road to Ruin" combine sheer thrust, zeal, and melody like no other group currently on the charts. Yet the finale, "Home," makes its clear that this is a changed band--or, at least, that Grohl's a changed man. With only his piano for company, Grohl's pleading voice reveals fragile layers of insecurity and loneliness as he sings "all I want is to be home." Seems this rock & roll road warrior's mellowed some, albeit without compromising Foo Fighters' vitality.

KOD
Regular price $32.99 Save $-32.99J. Cole's fifth full-length effort, KOD debuted atop the Billboard 200 in April 2018, marking the North Carolina rapper's fifth consecutive No. 1 album. KOD - which stands for Kids On Drugs, King Overdosed and Kill Our Demons - takes us into a new world highlighting addictions of all sorts. The gold certified record is home to the two Top 10 singles "KOD" and "ATM." Cole explains the three acronyms starting with Kids On Drugs, "If I turn on the TV right now, it's not gonna take long for there to be an advertisement that pops up that says 'Are you feeling down? Have you been having lonely thoughts?' And then they shove a pill in your face. The first response of any problem is Medicate." As for King Overdosed he adds, "That's representing me, the times that I was, and am, afflicted by the same methods of escape." And Kill Our Demons, he explains, "That's the end goal: To face our shit, realize that we have some shit going on inside, everybody...whether it be from traumatic childhood experiences, whether it be from a lack of attention, confidence issues, insecurities. Whatever it is, we gotta be honest with ourselves."

Soft Sounds From Another Planet
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Japanese Breakfast's Soft Sounds From Another Planet is less of a concept album about space exploration so much as it is a mood board come to life. Over the course of 12 tracks, Michelle Zauner explores a sonic landscape of her own design, one that's big enough to contain her influences. There are songs on this album that recall the pathos of Roy Orbison's ballads, while others could soundtrack a cinematic drive down one of Blade Runner's endless skyways. Zauner's voice is capacious; one moment she's serenading the past, the next she's robotically narrating a love story over sleek monochrome, her lyrics more pointed and personal than ever before. While Psychopomp was a genre-spanning introduction to Japanese Breakfast, this visionary sophomore album launches the project to new heights.
