With Go Down Singin' Rice emerges as a spirit settling into a more philosophical place. Still

wildly committed to living wide open in pursuit of his dream and being the best man possible, there was only one title for this 11 - song cycle. Whether measuring the pitfalls and triumphs on the lean fiddle'n' harmony assessment of "Oh Tennessee, " the cascading acoustic guitar passage of simple wisdom from father to son in "Numbers, " or the smoky looking back at first loves in "Little Red Race Car, " there's a knowing appreciation for how he got here. In a voice sturdy as a retaining wall, Rice confesses, "I'm 38 now, and that's part of it. The Marfa Tapes is a collection of beautifully intimate and raw songs written and recorded by Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert, and Jon Randall in the tiny, middle-of-nowhere town of Marfa, TX. Barely a dot on the map, Marfa is an eccentric outpost in the midst of a vast expanse of nothingness, the perfect place to lose – or find – yourself. For Lambert, Randall, and Ingram, it's both. Over the past several years, the desolate location has become a songwriting haven for the trio, yielding both massive hits and profound personal growth. "I'll never forget pulling into Marfa that first night at 4am," said Lambert. While a couple of the tracks may already be familiar to listeners – ACM Song of the Year "Tin Man" as well as fan favorite "Tequila Does" – the vast majority of these songs have never been heard outside of Marfa. The result is a rare glimpse inside the creative process of three of the genre's most accomplished writers and performers; a candid, unvarnished look at Lambert, Randall, and Ingram's undeniable chemistry in its purest, most honest form.

Among the English language's premier phrase-turners with music relevant to any age, the late great John Prine was part of the Atlantic Records family for four albums before he jumped over to Asylum for another three records and eventually his own label Oh Boy. A creative comeback of sorts, 1980's tasteful Storm Windows was Prine's last for Asylum. Produced by Barry Beckett (Bob Dylan, Paul Simon), the album features ten country-flavored tracks, six of which were written by Prine, with two more songs co-written with guitarist John Burns. Recorded at the iconic Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Sheffield, Alabama, poignant standouts include "Living in the Future," "One Red Rose," and the title track.
