There is no overstating Judas Priest's position at the very top of heavy metal's Mount Olympus. The long-term association (eight consecutive live and studio albums) between the band and producer Tom Allom includes the cornerstone 1980 classic British Steel, their second LP together. It was recorded in four weeks at Tittenhurst Park, previously owned by John Lennon, and the home of Ringo Starr at the time. It was British Steel that took Priest to the masses at the onset of the '80s with huge anthems like "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight," earning the band their first RIAA platinum Top 40 album in the U.S. and their first Top 10 in the U.K. in the process. Deeper album cuts like "Metal Gods" and "The Rage" would also prove to become beloved concert staples. Universally hailed as one of the most influential albums in heavy metal history, fellow musicians and disciples credit British Steel for unleashing metal from its blues origins.

Distinguished by dual magnesium-burn guitars, leather-tough percussion, molten-hot melodies, and the unmistakable piercing falsetto of operatic vocalist, Screaming for Vengeance found Judas Priest laying waste to its contemporaries' softer, cheesier hard-rock styles. An effort on which precision-based speed, mainstream accessibility, and resilient attitude meet in equilibrium, the 1982 set remains the British metal legends' top-selling record. Staked by the breakout "You've Got Another Thing Comin'," which burns white-hot with foot-pounding riffs, prize-fighting percussion, and singer Rob Halford's gun-for-hire blare, Screaming for Vengeance clutches hold of the jugular and doesn't let go. A return to the band's gritty, purist roots, the record revisits the themes of darkness, menace, and the unknown firmly established on the pioneering Stained Class and Killing Machine. 

With the one-two opening tandem of the instrumental "The Hellion" and stomping "Electric Eye," Priest sounds utterly futuristic and terrifying, the instruments seemingly on a swivel and the sawed-off tones flooding the guitar solos with intimidation. A classic head-out-to-the highway anthem ("Riding on the Wind"), a racing proto-thrash banger ("Screaming for Vengeance"), and a scorching exorcism ("Devil's Child") function as the metal-hued bolts that hold the foundations of this Top 20-charting benchmark in place. Perhaps more so here than on any other record, Priest spit-shines hooks and collusive six-string harmonic leads to perfection, giving listeners yin-yang doses of pain and pleasure, sweet and bitter. Songs at once invite sing-a-longs and fist-pumping responses. Screaming for Vengeance marked the last time Priest would sound this heavy in the '80s.

Nada Surf Let Go on Vinyl LP! 

Nada Surf is reissuing individual vinyl versions of their albums The Proximity Effect, Let Go and The Weight Is A Gift via Barsuk Records. The albums have been out of print on vinyl for many years, and the band wanted to make them available to fans who couldn't get their hands on the box-set.

Nada Surf's subtle and enchanting 2002 opus Let Go has a little something for everyone, with acoustic numbers "Blizzard of '77," "Fruit Fly" and "Neither Heaven nor Space," power pop cuts like "Happy Kid" and upbeat electric fare such as "Hi-Speed Soul." Let Go proved that Nada Surf was for real and that they were a rightful heir of classic American rock.

Very much a 20th century band, The Killers have turned their initial obsession with British alternative pop, indie rock and lo-fi into a huge, stadium-filling sound that manages to retain integrity while appealing to the mainstream. In that happy place they've released four studio albums that have sold an estimated 22 million copies worldwide (all four topping the UK charts) and matched the long form discs' Platinum status with massive hit singles.

Following up an album that sold over six million copies in the UK, Europe and the US alone could have been daunting but the Killers were on such a roll that Sam's Town (2006) took them even further. Flowers' distinctive lyrics and voice and his increasing piano and electric keyboards skills added new depth to a disc recorded in Nevada and London with co-producers Alan Moulder and Flood keeping the sound razor contemporary.

Since it was obvious by now that the band was already established, and wearing the trappings of stardom well, they could have taken a critical backlash. They didn't because the lead single "When You Were Young" expanded their sonic ambition with a heartland sweep that nodded to Bruce Springsteen's first two albums and topped the US Alternative Songs chart (it made #2 in the UK). While the lovely "For Reasons Unknown" slipped through the net it is another standout cut. The same applies to "Read My Mind," a piece that Brandon still considers to be amongst his very best.

30th Anniversary Vinyl LP Reissue with 2020 Remastered Audio!

1990's Shake Your Money Maker is the triple platinum debut album from The Black Crowes and the brothers Robinson named after Elmore James' classic blues number of the same name. Issued on Rick Rubin's Def American Recordings and produced by George Drakoulias, the blistering 10-song throwback is awash in vocal swagger and guitar hooks. One doesn't have to listen hard to pick up the breadcrumb trail of influences ranging from 60s and 70s groups like Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, the Allman Brothers, to Faces and the Doobie Brothers. Picking up where their predecessors left off, the Crowes were equally adept at blending rock, soul, country and gospel into something that felt new and electric.

With swagger to spare, the very first track opens the album as a declaration and a promise to rock "Twice As Hard." From the screeching sounds of a car crash on "Thick N' Thin" to Rich Robinson's wondrous dexterity on "Struttin Blues," the whole album has that lighting in a bottle feeling and the raw energy of a live band who can't be contained. But the real success of the album relied upon a pair of No.1 mainstream rock singles, "She Talks to Angels" and "Hard To Handle," which reached the top spot on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart and No.26 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Shake Your Money Maker was evidence of a band that was mature beyond their years and primed to take their place in rock history rather than just study it. Original album remastered in 2020.

Deluxe Edition Vinyl 2LP Reissue with Newly Remastered Audio Plus Bonus Material!

Singer Ronnie James Dio joined Black Sabbath in 1979 which resulted in two back-to-back classic albums: Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules. On those memorable albums, Dio's soaring tenor and gothic songwriting were the perfect foil for the band's bone-crushing mix of razor-sharp riffs, intense grooves, and dark imagery. Rhino salutes the long shadow cast by this short-lived lineup with newly remastered versions of both albums expanded with rare and unreleased music.

Dio quickly found kindred spirits in guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward. To follow-up Heaven And Hell, the group returned to the studio in 1981 to begin recording Mob Rules, with drummer Vinny Appice joining the band for the first time. Released in October 1981 and certified gold, the album was another Sabbath classic, including standouts like "The Sign Of The Southern Cross," "Turn Up The Night" and the title track. Mob Rules: Deluxe Edition boasts an expansive selection of rare and unreleased recordings. Along with additional tracks from Live At Hammersmith Odeon, the collection also includes a newly mixed version of "The Mob Rules." 

The Dio-fronted lineup disbanded in 1982 but reunited a decade later to record Dehumanizer and tour before going on hiatus again. The group came together again in 2006 to record three new songs for Rhino's era-spanning collection, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. The collaboration led to a highly anticipated world tour in 2007 where the group was billed as Heaven And Hell. Their final album of new material, 2009's The Devil You Know, again demonstrated the musical bond between the band members was unparalleled.

Absolution is the third studio album by the English alternative rock band Muse. It was released on 15 September 2003 in Japan, on 22 September 2003 in the United Kingdom on Mushroom Records and A&E Records and on 23 March 2004 in the United States by East West Records and Taste Media. The album followed up on it's predecessor's diverse musical tendencies and elaborate sound, while also having a more focused and consistent theme and aesthetic throughout. Absolution has a noticeably darker and heavier tone musically, with a lyrical focus on the theological and apocalyptic concepts. The album reached number one in the UK Album Charts. It also yielded the band's first top 10 single hit, with "Time Is Running Out" peaking at number 8 in the UK singles chart. In 2009, it was voted by Kerrang! As the second-best album of the 21st century thus far. (Muse's previous album, Origin of Symmetry, and their subsequent release, Black Holes and Revelations, also appeared in the top fifty).

Originally released in 2000, White Pony is the third album by the Deftones and follow-up to 1997's Around the Fur. The album marks a significant growth in the group's sound and finds the band incorporating new wave/shoegaze influences into their signature alt-metal mix. In October 2017, The Breeders announced their return to 4AD, along with a new album, All Nerve, released in March 2018. The label is also reissuing their previous four albums on vinyl including Pod (1990), Last Splash (1993), Title TK (2002) and Mountain Battles (2008). Following the departure of Tanya Donelly, the breakup of The Pixies, and the return of Kelley Deal to the fold, The Breeders' hit the alternative big time with their second record Last Splash and its hit singles "Cannonball," "Divine Hammer," and "Saints." The last Breeders album of the '90s, as Kelley suffered and recovered from drug addiction and Kim found a new outlet in The Amps, Last Splash went platinum and brought Kim Deal's massive songwriting talents out from behind the shadow of Black Francis once and for all.

The antithesis of the sweaty R&B shouter that prowled the edge of stages, Bill Withers dealt in mellow, downhome-styled soul and emotional vulnerability, qualities that come to the fore on his seminal 1981 Greatest Hits collection. Evidence of Withers' crossover appeal is found not only via his chart successes on both the pop and R&B charts, but in the DNA of his best work. There's not one forgettable moment on Greatest Hits.

Classics like the Grammy-winning "Ain't No Sunshine" and devotional "Grandma's Hands," showcase the vocalist's incredible breath control, folksy drawl, and restrained phrasing.
