Regular price $39.98 Save $-39.98Fleetwood Mac was at the top of its game in August 1977 when the band returned to its adopted home in Southern California to play three shows at The Forum in Los Angeles. RUMOURS had only been out a few weeks when the band left in February to tour the world, returning six months later to play three shows at The Forum for nearly 50,000 fans.
RUMOURS LIVE captures the energy and excitement of the band’s opening night at The Forum on August 29, 1977.
The concert’s setlist draws almost exclusively from FLEETWOOD MAC and RUMOURS, the first two albums recorded by the band’s latest incarnation: Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Christine McVie, and the newest members, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. The lone nod to Fleetwood Mac’s other nine studio albums is a performance of “Oh Well,” a rock-guitar masterpiece originally released in 1969 and written by the band’s founder, guitarist Peter Green.
The concert remained unreleased for decades until 2021, when “Gold Dust Woman” and “World Turning” from the show were included as a bonus tracks on LIVE: DELUXE EDITION, Rhino’s expanded version of Fleetwood Mac’s 1980 concert album. The other 16 songs on the collection have never been released before.
Engineer Ken Caillat, who helped record RUMOURS, also recorded the concert at The Forum using the Record Plant’s mobile recording truck. He captured the band’s impassioned performance at a moment of peak RUMOURS frenzy, including powerful versions of “Landslide,” “Never Going Back Again,” “Songbird,” and “The Chain.”
Vide Noir
Regular price $37.99 Save $-37.99Vide Noir was written and recorded over the past two years at Lord Huron's Los Angeles studio and informal clubhouse, Whispering Pines, and was mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips/MGMT). Singer, songwriter and producer Ben Schneider found inspiration wandering restlessly through his adopted home of L.A. at night: "My nighttime drives ranged all over the city – across the twinkling grid of the valley, into the creeping shadows of the foothills, through downtown's neon canyons and way out to the darksome ocean. I started imagining Vide Noir as an epic odyssey through the city, across dimensions, and out into the cosmos. A journey along the spectrum of human experience. A search for meaning amidst the cold indifference of The Universe," he says.
Lead single "Wait by the River" is already the subject of early critical praise; the Los Angeles Times proclaims, "It's a gorgeous song, one with the majesty of a 1950s doo-wop ballad," while SPIN adds, "[‘Wait by the River'] offers a refined, waltz-like sound that can't quite cover for the sins of a fatalistically obsessed narrator." UPROXX furthers, "The track sounds like something you'd slowly sway back and forth to in close proximity with a special someone at a ‘50s high school dance, like a more doo-wop Fleet Foxes, a vibe they previously proved they can nail with ‘The Night We Met.'"
A true multi-media artist, Schneider has once again created an adorned world to inhabit within Vide Noir: the album will be accompanied by a wealth of imagery, films and immersive experiences crafted to expand upon its narratives and themes. This builds on Schneider's past work, which used videos, a comic book, a choose-your-own-adventure hotline and assorted Easter eggs as means of deepening the listener experience.
British Steel
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98There is no overstating Judas Priest's position at the very top of heavy metal's Mount Olympus. The long-term association (eight consecutive live and studio albums) between the band and producer Tom Allom includes the cornerstone 1980 classic British Steel, their second LP together. It was recorded in four weeks at Tittenhurst Park, previously owned by John Lennon, and the home of Ringo Starr at the time. It was British Steel that took Priest to the masses at the onset of the '80s with huge anthems like "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight," earning the band their first RIAA platinum Top 40 album in the U.S. and their first Top 10 in the U.K. in the process. Deeper album cuts like "Metal Gods" and "The Rage" would also prove to become beloved concert staples. Universally hailed as one of the most influential albums in heavy metal history, fellow musicians and disciples credit British Steel for unleashing metal from its blues origins.
GO:OD AM
Regular price $37.98 Save $-37.98Mac Miller has accomplished every goal he ever set for himself. At least that's what the magazines say about the Pittsburgh kid, and they're right enough. With his first album he became a grassroots rap megastar. With his second he bared his weird soul and was praised for it. His 11 mixtapes boast a couple bucket lists' worth of collaborators, from Bun B and Kendrick Lamar to Rick Ross and Juicy J. And in the same year that he toured the U.S. backed by a psychedelic soul band, he rapped all over Europe with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. He did indie. He's doing major. He even bought himself a ridiculous house in the Los Angeles hills and made a TV show about it. Hell, he made a jazz record.
But it's only now that Mac is stepping into the light. If the work he released surrounding 2013's acclaimed Watching Movies With the Sound Off seems dark, that's because he's been exorcising demons – literally if you consider the tape devoted to his horrorcore alter-ego, Delusional Thomas. As Mac's profile rose, his outlook sunk. While the picture he painted of himself through 2014's bleak-banging Faces tape is real as can be, it caught him in a surreal state: questioning everything, depressed. In 2015, at 23, we meet Mac all over again. The Mac who's got some answers, who sold the mansion, climbed out of the rabbit hole, and went back home to make his most confident and clear-headed album yet.
2015's GO:OD AM speaks to this moment in Mac's life. A well-curated set of guests (ranging from Miguel, Little Dragon, Chief Keef, frequent collaborator Ab-Soul and a Lil B at his most sage) who embolden the message. Echoes of past forays into piano music and crate-digger beats. Fresh collisions of astral soundscapes and trap drums. You'll find a lot of humor and a lot of swagger. Heart and insight, too. Most of all, you'll find Mac Miller standing on his mountain of accomplishments – those we witnessed and those we didn't – rapping his ass off (as evidenced on lead track "100 Grandkids") with a crooked grin and enough wisdom to know that the only way is up.

Odelay
Regular price $32.00 Save $-32.00Since introducing himself to the world in 1994 with his genre-defying, multi-platinum debut, Mellow Gold, Beck has blazed a path into the future while simultaneously foraging through the past. Throughout his singular career he has utilized all manners and eras of music, blurring boundaries and shattering expectations with each album. From the world-tripping atmospherics of 1998's Mutations and the florescent funk of 1999's Midnite Vultures through the somber reflections of 2002's Sea Change, 2005's platinum tour de force Guero and 2006's sprawling The Information, no Beck record has ever sounded like its predecessor.
In the fall of 2016, UMe will begin to reissue Beck's entire envelope-pushing DGC/Geffen/Interscope catalog on vinyl, beginning in October with the trifecta of his 1996 Grammy Award-winning game-changer, Odelay, 2002's beautiful, brokenhearted, Sea Change, and 2005's Guero, which saw Beck reunite with the Dust Brothers. Sea Change will be released as a double LP while Guero will be made available for the first time ever as a single LP. Mellow Gold, Mutations, Midnight Vultures, The Information and Modern Guilt will follow at a later date.
Originally released 20 years ago in June 1996 on DGC, Odelay was Beck's breakthrough follow-up to his platinum bow, Mellow Gold. Selling more than two million copies in the U.S., the double-platinum-certified Odelay featured classics that loom large in Beck's live sets to this day, including "Where It's At," "Devils Haircut" and "The New Pollution." Odelay won two Grammy Awards in 1997, Best Alternative Music Album and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for "Where It's At," and was Beck's first album to be nominated for Album of the Year - the top honor his most recent album Morning Phase took home in 2015.
Produced by Beck with collaborators the Dust Brothers, Odelay continued to demonstrate and expand upon Beck's eclectic stylistic palette. It was universally praised upon its release, named Album of the Year in both Rolling Stone and the prestigious Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics' poll, as well as the U.K. New Musical Express' critics' poll, where the album represented Beck's platinum breakthrough in England. In 1998, Q magazine readers voted Odelay one of the greatest albums of all time, while Rolling Stone ranked it in its 2003 list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time," and #9 on its list of the "100 Best Albums of the '90s."

Bands like Coal Chamber and Limp Bizkit were inspired by the album's rage, emphasizing similar grooves and song structures, including some Hip Hop elements. Slipknot, Machine Head, and Sepultura were also inspired by the album. Replicating the magic of Guns N' Roses, Appetite for Destruction, Black Sabbath and Metallica, White Zombie has, in this major debut album, already begun to pave the path for the future of heavy metal. Their rhythms are complex, their riffs intense. They're a powerhouse of loud and proud. Vocalist Rob Zombie intrigues in shock value, and here he packs it in: these songs are about muscle cars, sleazy encounters, and a glorified trash culture. Songs include brash manifestos such as "Soul Crusher," indulgent macabre such as "Spiderbaby (Yeah-Yeah-Yeah)," and the sexually charged "Thrust!" This album is a celebratory act for the lover of the lewd-pressed on 180-gram vinyl and including a color insert with lyrics.

One by One
Regular price $37.00 Save $-37.00One by One is the fourth studio album by alternative rock band Foo Fighters, released on October 22, 2002 by RCA. The album is the first to feature guitarist Chris Shiflett. Production on the album was troubled, with initial recording sessions considered unsatisfying and raising tensions between the band members. They eventually decided to redo the album from scratch during a two-week period at front man Dave Grohl's home studio in Alexandria, Virginia. The songs on the album, which include the successful singles "All My Life" and "Times Like These", have been noted for their introspective lyrics and a heavier and more aggressive sound compared to the band's earlier work, which Grohl said was intended to translate the energy of the Foo Fighters' live performances into a recording. One by One was positively received by critics, winning a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2004-the second consecutive Grammy Award for Best Rock Album won by the band-and praised for it's sound and production.
The Suburbs
Regular price $32.98 Save $-32.98Arguably one of the most significant bands of the 21st century, with their 2010 epic The Suburbs Arcade Fire delivered a dynamic collection that managed to be both grandiose and life-affirming without getting bogged down in ephemera. Debuting at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200, Arcade Fire's third studio effort took home Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards before going on to earn the band Best International Group and Best International Album at the 2011 BRIT Awards. The expertly paced music is equally radiant and haunting while the urgent lyrics display a variety of influences from the anxious yearnings of suburban childhood to the stirring imagery of surreal dystopian landscapes.
"Three albums into its career, Arcade Fire confirms its position as rock's most vital band, The Suburbs following the thematic-oriented paths of its two excellent predecessors but completely changing the musical and topical course. Saliently addressing childhood memory, the concept of home, fleeting innocence, emotional transience, and the search for something pure, the Montreal septet has made an imperative statement about our era's communicative disconnect, unquestioned speed, and gamut of feelings and meanings that arise when one looks back at what was – and what is now." - Bob Gendron, TONE Audio, Issue 33, #3 Best Record of 2010.
