"Crushing chronic chords with the dyne-rhythm section to fuel it all, are not only still here, but stronger than ever". -No Depression
"Everything in Smithereens' world is like a film noir shot in psychedelic colors. But this New Jersey band has a talent for creating fresh variations that prevent dust or mist from clouding their music. 'Smithereens 2011' reaches a peak with the song that opens the album, the sour-tempered yet utterly transporting 'Sorry.'" -Ken Tucker, NPR
"Wholly satisfying blast of classic Smithereens songcraft and melodicism, colored with Pat DiNizio's impassioned vocals, Jim Babjak's thick-toned, stinging guitar, Dennis Diken's imaginative, powerful drum work and Severo 'The Thrilla' Jornacion's stylish bass. The entire collection sounds like a return to The Smithereens' mid-to-late '80s glory years, both song and performance-wise." -Goldmine Magazine
"And 2011's songs – the songs! – vintage! Picks up where Green Thoughts left off." -Pop Dose
The Very Best Of Talk Talk
Regular price $35.00 Save $-35.00The Very Best of Talk Talk is the most comprehensive retrospective assembled on the synth group to date, following the band from its new wave origins to its latter-day atmospheric new age recordings. Although the compilation features nothing from 1991's Laughing Stock and all of the songs from 1988's Spirit of Eden are presented in edited versions, the disc remains a good overview of the band's evolution and features all of their big hits, including "Talk Talk" and "Today." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Legalize It
Regular price $24.00 Save $-24.00Peter Tosh was a founding member of Jamaican reggae legends the Wailers along with Bob Marley. With his rough-and-tumble sound and image, Tosh gave the early incarnation of the Wailers an edge that was informed by Ska and it's "Rude Boy" lifestyle. In the mid-70's he split from the group and he embarked on a solo career with the pro-marijuana album Legalize It. Unfortunately, in 1987, Tosh was gunned down during an incident at his home in Kingston, ending the life of a reggae innovator.

Never Not Together
Regular price $26.00 Save $-26.00With their ninth album, Nada Surf—Caws, Daniel Lorca, Ira Elliot, and Louie Lino—continue pursuing their humanistic vision of the world through hooky, catchy rock songs with sharply drawn, yet tenderly felt lyrics. Never Not Together, is a compact, yet wide-ranging collection of songs that revel in the quartet's ability to evoke and reflect grand and intricately wrought emotions, whether through sweeping guitar solos or hushed-whisper vocals. Never Not Together was recorded at the Coach House Studio in Wales' Rockfield Studios, where artists like Echo & the Bunnymen, the Flamin' Groovies, and Dumptruck recorded albums. "I've been seeing the name on albums for so long," says Caws. "It's a working farm, and the founder/owner, Kingsley Ward, would come in and tell us stories when he wasn't farming. I'd walk into town every morning and listen to the sheep talking as I walked by them."That openness to listening—to their fans, to each other, to the world—has helped inform Nada Surf's legacy as down-to-earth rock stars—musicians who can command festival stages around the world while connecting to audience members on a personal level, conscious of the shared humanity every step of the way.

Peripheral Vision - Clear Orange
Regular price $23.98 Save $-23.98Virginia Beach's Turnover has never been a band afraid of telling the truth. The emotional honesty poured out over a number of anthemic releases has been a proven formula of success for the band, but on their sophomore LP Peripheral Vision, the band treads into deeper water. Working again with Magnolia producer Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive), Turnover's latest record shows a band maturing to create their best effort: an ethereal, reverb-drenched soundscape blending elements of hazy dream pop and the delicate emo rock of yesteryear. Songs like "Hello Euphoria" and "Like Slow Disappearing" highlight the new calmer, more subdued approach to songwriting, matched by Austin Getz's somber, confessional lyrics that echo throughout songs as if his words were haunting every measure. Peripheral Vision solidifies the idea that Turnover is a band with it's finger on the pulse of it's generation: growing and learning with every release, but never failing to provide a relatable, cathartic experience for anyone listening.

Oh! The Ocean (Indie Cloudy Clear Vinyl)
Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00Since they emerged as leading lights of the late-'00s indie rock scene with 2007 debut A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, Liverpool's The Wombats - Matthew "Murph" Murphy, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis - have maintained an incredible upward momentum, amassing 2.5B streams along the way. 2011's electro-flecked second album The Modern Glitch made them Top Ten regulars; 2015's third Glitterbug saw them embraced by the TikTok generation years later, with "Greek Tragedy" a viral hit several times over. By 2018's Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life they'd stepped up to arenas around the world, and 2022's Fix Yourself, Not the World was the band's first UK #1 album. - Their recent Reading 2024 Radio 1 tent headline slot proved they continue at the top of their game, overspilling with crowds of 18-24-year-olds that remain the core audience 2 decades into their career. This set launched the new era of The Wombat's sixth album Oh! The Ocean, a project that grooves with social anxiety, internal strife, compulsive behaviours and the dilemmas and tribulations of Los Angeles life, where Murph and his family live. From behind the band's deceptively cuddly façade, Murph has always written openly about his anxiety, depression and addictions (he's now "sober as hell"), but with this collection there's a sense of progress towards confronting, accepting and coping with his issues. Alongside familiar sounds they explore new genres from glistening tech rock to sci-fi pop, futuristic fuzz rock to bluesy rock'n'roll, with touches of disco and hip-hop-inflections.

$5 At The Door
Regular price $33.98 Save $-33.98Though they have come to be one of the defining bands of the '90s, and an entire era of alt-rock, the number of people who actually got to see Sublime live in their heyday is remarkably small. They wouldn't experience their major breakthrough until the tragic death of Bradley Nowell, so most of their shows up until the immediate tours after 40oz to Freedom started gaining traction a year after it's release took place in impromptu settings at house parties, barbecues, and bars. There have been many, many bootlegs produced of these shows, but none can boast what $5 at the Door does: It's the best sounding live recording of the band at their pre-Sublime prime, capturing their 1994 set at Tressel Tavern, as they knock out Grateful Dead covers and sound like a runaway train car that is laying it's own track as it rambles down the tracks.

Morrison Hotel
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Morrison Hotel (sometimes referred to as Hard Rock Café from the title of the first side of the LP, with the second side titled Morrison Hotel) is the fifth studio album by American psychedelic rock band The Doors, recorded from between August 1966 and November 1969 and released by Elektra in February 1970. After the previous year's more experimental album The Soft Parade was not as well-received as anticipated, the group went back to basics and back to their roots. On this album, there is a slight steer toward blues, which would be fully explored by the band on their next album, L.A. Woman.

Car Button Cloth (Expanded 'Clothbound' Edition) (INDIE EXCLUSIVE, DELUXE EDITION, YELLOW VINYL)
Regular price $61.99 Save $-61.99Deluxe 2xLP clothbound sleeve edition of ‘Car Button Cloth’, featuring Lemonheads classics ‘If I Could Talk I’d Tell You’ and ‘The Outdoor Type’. This reissue includes the original record alongside a whole extra LP of rarities and unreleased cuts, continuing Fire Records in-depth series of reissues from the legendary band.
‘Car Button Cloth' is an extraordinary affair of musical and emotional extremes, a soundscape spanning “the most beautiful piano-led mourning in the history of the broken heart” that switches into perky jangle-pop for fleeting moments and contains the ultimate self-deprecating classic ‘The Outdoor Type’, penned by Smudge cohort Tom Morgan, as well as a cover of the bluegrass standard ‘Knoxville Girl’ and ‘If I Could Talk I’d Tell You’ co-written with The Vaselines’ Eugene Kelly. All bases are covered.
To further unravel where Evan’s head was at during the period of its creation, this deluxe double album comes with a record of exquisite and typically eclectic scene setting covers that occupied B-sides and alternative format versions, plus other super rare offcuts, live takes and remixes. A diet of Volcano Suns, Glen Campbell, The Jacobites, The Sir Douglas Quintet and Whitney Houston influenced Evan’s thinking and added further colour to an album that remains something of a Dorian Gray-style masterpiece. The first side of extras is rounded off with the never before released ‘Arise’, originally set for the remake of Great Expectations and later realised as Rancho Santa Fe on solo album ‘Baby I’m Bored’.

Runaway - Red (Colored Vinyl, Red, Bonus Vinyl, 180 Gram Vinyl)
Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00SAMANTHA FISH IS NOW A MAJOR ACT...
Red Vinyl. "First time available on vinyl. Red vinyl pressing.". Just a few months ago, very few people outside Kansas City, Missouri knew there was a young, dynamic musician named Samantha Fish getting ready to take the world by storm. In fact, it's not all that long ago that the 22-year-old singer/guitarist first discovered the blues and started paying her dues on that city's local scene. With Runaway, her solo debut, she now breaks out big time, announcing herself as a newcomer to be reckoned with. The album's nine original songs and pair of covers incorporate "all the sounds I grew up with, with my own spin," says Fish, who seems to have spent her formative years in the Midwest soaking up a vast array of musical styles. Runaway features sharp-edged, riff-driven blues ("Down in the Swamp"), breakneck boogies ("Runaway"), smoky, late-night jazz ("Feeling Alright") as well as hints of the sultry 70s hard rock of Ann and Nancy Wilson and the 4/4 ruggedness of the Rolling Stones. Throughout, Fish demonstrates astonishing range and depth as a songwriter. Her vocals are cool, confident and nothing less than beguiling. Backing her on this eclectic collection of modern electric blues is the same crack team that first convened for the making of Girls With Guitars. That collaboration with fellow female artists Cassie Taylor and Dani Wilde, released earlier this year, already showed that Fish refuses to be intimidated, even when working with musicians more experienced than herself. "They are incredibly talented and creative, so it made for fun sessions," she says of the well-oiled studio band heard on Runaway. Jamie Little, one of the UK's most in-demand drummers, reunites with bassist Cassie Taylor to give the record plenty of rhythmic thump. Producer Mike Zito, a St. Louis native and 2010 Blues Music Award winner, adds thick, meaty electric guitar on most cuts. "Mike and I have known each other for a few years now, so he knew the sound and style I was after. He did a great job of taking ideas and giving them direction in the studio setting." In between making these first two albums, Fish spent a month on the road with Cassie Taylor and Dani Wilde for the first leg of the year-long Blues Caravan Tour. It gave her the valuable opportunity to road-test the material heard on Runaway to a discriminating audience. With an exciting new debut album now in her back pocket, the tour continues throughout the summer and into the fall of 2011, touching down at many European and North American festivals and even taking to the seas on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise in October.

Atavista [Explicit Content] ( 140 Gram Vinyl, Booklet, Gatefold LP Jacket)
Regular price $37.00 Save $-37.00Childish Gambino - Atavista - Vinyl 2 LP
For years, Childish Gambino’s Atavista hid in plain sight. When he released an unfinished version of the record on March 15, 2020, it spent just 12 hours on his website before he pulled it down. Reappearing on streaming a week later as 3.15.20, the project brought up almost as many questions as sparkling neo-soul anthems, which still sounded slicker than the average as raw cuts titled after timestamps.
Atavista is an ode to impermanence, never more directly than over the glimmering guitar of “Time” with Grande. (“One thing’s for certain, baby/We’re running out of time,” they harmonize on the chorus.) But in Gambino’s capable hands, Atavista also slows down to enjoy the view, the sonic equivalent of a luxe leather-interior BMW cruising an open California highway. “I did what I wanted to,” he revels on closing track “Final Church.” Atavista took many shapes over the years to reach a final form. In each warm refrain, tight sequence, and carefully chosen collaborator, Gambino demonstrates why some things are worth waiting for.

Slowly But Shirley
Regular price $31.00 Save $-31.00Since the ’80s, Soul Asylum have been a group known for their raucous but emphatic combination of punk energy, guitar-fueled firepower, and songs that range from aggressive to heartfelt. All of these things are present in spades on the Minneapolis band’s gloriously, joyously loose 13th studio album, 'Slowly But Shirley'. For 'Slowly But Shirley', it also helped that Soul Asylum turned to a familiar name for production: Steve Jordan, who had also produced the band’s 1990 effort 'And the Horse They Rode In On'. Back when they first worked together, the members of Soul Asylum were still figuring out how best to capture their sound in the studio—and Jordan’s approach of having the band play live together in one room was ideal. “He taught us a language of players playing music in the studio,” Pirner says. “Which we were not at the time. We still didn't really understand what you were supposed to do in what order.” Decades later, both parties are in different places. Jordan is currently the drummer for the Rolling Stones, and Soul Asylum remains one of the most inspiring and hardworking bands in the rock scene, having broken through commercially with the double-platinum 1992 album Grave Dancers Union.
