Nevermind
Regular price $32.99 Save $-32.99Excellent Vinyl LP Pressing of the 1991 Album That Changed the Musical Landscape: Nirvana's Acclaimed Nevermind Includes "Smells Like Teen Spririt," "Come As You Are," "Lithium"
Few records changed the world. Nirvana's Nevermind is one of them. Released in September 1991, the well-produced yet emotionally raw album catapulted grunge into the mainstream and forever altered the popular musical landscape, turning Nirvana into household names and singer Kurt Cobain into the reluctant spokesperson of his generation. By year’s end, Seattle-based music, fashion, and attitude consumed popular consciousness. Nevermind had restored the gritty passion, rebellious mentality, and cathartic power long missing from mainstream rock. Call it the mighty sword that in one swoop fell the excess, plasticity, and emptiness of 80s music.
The record’s impact is also be measured by the success of its singles. Named by Rolling Stone as the #9 Best Song of All Time, the anthemic “Smells Like Teen Spirit” became an institution on radio stations and MTV. Subsequent singles “Come As You Are,” “Lithium,” and “In Bloom” also testified to the genius of the soft-loud arrangements and whip-smart commentary on Nevermind, which at its core was a blockbuster pop album in punk clothing.
More than ten million copies later, the record has only picked up more accolades, having been included at or near the top of nearly every major publication’s Greatest Albums list. Nevermind is listed as:
#1 in Spin’s 90 Greatest Albums of the 90s
#1 Album of the Year in Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop Poll
#6 in Pitchfork’s Top 100 Albums of the 1990s
#17 in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time
#1 in Entertainment Weekly’s Best Albums of the 90s
In addition to the groundbreaking music, sound quality has always been among the album’s finest aspects. Cleanly produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Andy Wallace, Nevermind features explosive dynamics, bursting tones, and a wide-open midrange. While Cobain later disparaged the sound as being too polished, the truth was that the room-filling sound allowed the record to grab the attention of anyone within earshot. Much imitated but never equaled, the sound became the template that nearly every band requested be put on their albums. Experience this masterwork as the creators intended on this excellent analog pressing.

Siamese Dream
Regular price $49.98 Save $-49.98Originally released in 1993, Siamese Dream is the breakthrough second album from the Smashing Pumpkins and one of the finest to ever come out of the alt-rock movement. Co-produced with Butch Vig and instrumentally recorded almost entirely by bandleader Billy Corgan himself, the guitar-heavy affair generated no less than four hit singles in "Cherub Rock," "Today," "Disarm" and "Rocket."
Built on rich, layered sonics and inherent dynamic tension, Siamese Dream stands alongside Nirvana's Nevermind and Soundgarden's Superunknown as the defining albums of the decade and alt-rock's Mount Rushmore.
"Siamese Dream was loaded with melodies, from 'Luna' to the scorched overdrive of 'Cherub Rock,' Corgan’s raised middle finger to the independent-rock scene that never embraced him. The feeling was mutual. Corgan wrote his share of clunky lyrics ('Life’s a bummer when you’re a hummer') but they spoke with a directness that Cobain’s more poetically inclined words sometimes lacked. Corgan was a stoop-shouldered suburban misfit from a splintered household, much like many in his audience, and Siamese Dream became a soundtrack for a significant portion of his generation."

Is This It?
Regular price $25.00 Save $-25.00Is This It, the landmark debut from the Strokes, kickstarted a garage-rock revolution that defined American music from 2001 through 2005. Featuring taut rhythms, frentic tempos, scruffy grooves, melodic hooks, cool-toned vocals, choppy riffs, backstreet attitude, and twitchy arrangements that equally reference Motown, American punk, new wave, and funk, the album is a watershed document that takes off on the influences of James Brown, Television, and the Yardbirds and creates something entirely fresh, new, and irresistible. The Lumineers
Regular price $28.98 Save $-28.98Vinyl LP pressing. In 2011, an eponymous, self-recorded EP led to touring, and before long The Lumineers started attracting devout fans. They're drawn by songs like "Ho Hey" and "Stubborn Love," Americana-inflected barn burners in the vein of the Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons. The roots revival of the last few yeas has primed listeners for a new generation of rustic, heart-on-the-sleeve music. The Lumineers walk that line with an unerring gift for timeless melodies and soul-stirring lyrics.

1. Flowers In Your HairSo Tonight That I Might See
Regular price $30.98 Save $-30.98In keeping with the quality of their magical, laconic music, the success of Mazzy Star's second album, So Tonight That I Might See seemingly came out of nowhere. Eventually going platinum, the record's unexpected climb to commercial prominence began on the back of the surprise success of its second single, the dreamily atmospheric "Fade Into You," which rose into the Billboard Top 50 seven months after its parent album first hit the racks in October 1993. Gloriously out of step with the zeitgeist, the introspective So Tonight That I Might See bore scant relation to the grungy guitar records dominating the alt-rock scene. Indeed, "Fade Into You" ironically began its steady ascent up the Billboard chart while the world mourned the death of Kurt Cobain.
The product of ad hoc studio sessions, So Tonight That I Might See made no attempt to hide its rough 'n' ready nature, with "She's My Baby" and the grinding, "Venus In Furs"-esque titular song sounding almost willfully loose. More often than not, however, the album nonchalantly sauntered towards genius, not least on the droning, acid-tinged "Mary Of Silence," the duo's skeletal, cello-enhanced cover of Arthur Lee's "Five String Serenade" and the strung-out blues-rock of the aptly-titled "Wasted."
The record initially sold modestly, despite attracting tuned-in critics such as Los Angeles Times' Steve Hochman, who enthusiastically proclaimed that it "may well be the best psychedelic blues album since Cream." However, just when observers were preparing to file it away as a slow-burning niche record, So Tonight That I Might See started its stealthy ascent up the Billboard chart, peaking at No. 36 and moving a million copies. Now available as a single LP on standard weight vinyl in celebration of Capitol Records' 75th anniversary.

Regular price $28.98 Save $-28.98Hybrid Theory is the debut album by the American rock band Linkin Park, released on October 24, 2000 through Warner Bros. Records. The album was a commercial success, having been certified Diamond for sales of over 10 million units in the United States alone as of 2010, peaking at number two on the Billboard 200, and also reaching high positions on other charts worldwide. Recorded at NRG Recordings in North Hollywood, California, and produced by Don Gilmore, the album's lyrical themes deal with problems lead vocalist Chester Bennington experienced during his adolescence, including drug abuse and the constant fighting and divorce of his parents. Hybrid Theory takes it's title from the previous name of the band as well as the concept of music theory and combining different styles. Four singles were released from the album: "One Step Closer", "Crawling", "Paper cut", and "In the End", all of them being responsible for launching Linkin Park into mainstream popularity. While "In the End" was the most successful of the four, all of the singles in the album remain some of the band's most successful songs to date. Although "Runaway", "Points of Authority", and "My December" from the special edition bonus disc album were not released as singles, they were minor hits on alternative rock radio stations thanks to the success of all of the band's singles and the album. At the 2002 Grammy Awards, Hybrid Theory was nominated for Best Rock Album. The album is listed in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. It was ranked #11 on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums of the Decade.A special edition of Hybrid Theory was released March 11, 2002, a year and a half after it's original pressing. Hybrid Theory has sold 27 million copies worldwide, which makes it the best selling debut album of the 21st century. Linkin Park performed the album in it's entirety for the first time at the Download Festival on June 14, 2014.

Considered a contemporary classic, this record was included in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. Features production by Sean Slade and Paul Q Kolderie with mixing by Scott Litt and J Mascis. Live Through This was Hole's only album to feature bassist Kristen Pfaff before her death in June 1994. Recorded in October 1993, the album marked a divergence from the band's unpolished hardcore aesthetics to more refined melodies and song structure. The album's lyrics and packaging reflect Love's preoccupation with beauty, and it's songs contain repeated motifs of milk, motherhood, anti-elitism, and violence against women.

As a band, American Football dissolved into the history books almost as soon as this album was released, but it's success continued to grow in their absence and the band eventually reunited in 2014 for the record's 15th anniversary.
