2021 release, the fourth studio effort from the brother trio - and the follow-up to 2019's Neotheater. OK Orchestra includes the previously released singles "Bang!", "Bummerland" and "My Play". - The NYC-bred Met brothers - Adam (bass/vocals), a 24-year old Columbia graduate, Ryan (guitar/piano/vocals), a bespectacled 20-year old Columbia student who serves as the band's main songwriter, and Jack (vocals/guitar), the 17-year old force-de-nature who splits time between lead vocals and attending high school in NYC - experienced a meteoric rise in the past year, following the self-release of a 5-song EP and fall 2014's release of Infinity EP. Their full-length debut combines the exciting elements of their earlier releases alongside brand new material, reflecting the band's continued creative development. Eight years ago, AJR got their musical start busking in Central Park and Washington Square, singing Jackson 5 covers, and, later, their own material. They took those busking earnings to buy musical instruments, equipment, and Pro Tools. Over time, they realized that they could get the sound they needed just recording in the living room with their $99 microphone, which is where they still record today.

Kill Rock Stars is proud to re-issue Roman Candle, Elliott Smiths first solo album, originally released on Portlands Cavity Search Records in 1994. Roman Candle is now remastered for the re-release by Roger Seibel (SAE) and Larry Crane, editor of Tape Op Magazine and archivist for Elliott's family. Roman Candle had quite an impact on Slim Moon, Kill Rock Stars'founder: "In 1994, I had been asked to be on this five-person solo-act tour called Pop Chord with Tammy Watson, Carrie Akre, Sean Croghan and Elliott Smith. The first night at the Crocodile in Seattle, I didn't pay too much attention and people talked all thru Elliott's set. Sean Croghan got up next and said "all of you people who just talked through Elliott's set are bummed because you just missed something very, very special." The next night of the tour, at The Bottom Of The Hill in San Francisco, I listened very closely to Elliott's set, and it was basically one of those lifechanging moments. Instead of watching the rest of the performers, I went out to the tour van and popped Roman Candle into the player, and listened to it on endless repeat for the rest of the evening and beyond. It completely blew my mind. I have never heard music as heartwrenchingly, gut-checkingly honest, intimate, and wise - before or since."

Indie-rock darlings the Meat Puppets didn't miss a meat, er, beat with their move from SST to the major London label and their release of 1991's Forbidden Places. In fact, the album arguably represented a step up from their late-period work at SST, displaying that offhandedly brilliant charm that won the band so many fans in the first place. The album opener "Sam" is a frenzied rocker that recalls the early days with maniacal, "auctioneer"-style vocals, and the album closing, pickin' and spinnin' instrumental "Six Gallon Pie" is equally breakneck in tempo and dazzling in execution. "No Longer Gone" offers a hit of that desert mysticism that leavened albums like Meat Puppets II and Up on the Sun, and "Whirlpool" showcases Curt Kirkwood's underrated guitar chops. In short, an essential piece of the Puppets' catalog, finally widely available at retail on vinyl for the first time since it's release 35 years ago. It took four years for The Lumineers to follow up their platinum-plus self-titled debut - which spent 46 weeks on the Billboard 200 and peaked at #2 - but Cleopatra is well worth the wait. During that time, The Lumineers - whose original members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites founded the band in Ramsey, New Jersey back in 2002 - earned a pair of Grammy nominations (Best New Artist, Best Americana Album). The band had total artistic freedom in writing and recording the album, so Wesley and Jer pushed the envelope on experimental tracks like the stream-of-consciousness, purposely lo-fi "Sick in the Head," the yearning, piano chord build-up of "In the Light," or the closing orchestral instrumental, the aptly titled coda, "Patience." "We continue to make the kind of records we want to," says Wesley. "We believe in this music. It's a true labor of love. We just want to keep reaching more people with our songs." Given the evidence on The Lumineers' eagerly anticipated sophomore album Cleopatra, that shouldn't be a problem.
