At Their Very Best
Regular price $44.99 Save $-44.99The Isley Brothers have delighted audiences since the 1950's and are celebrating their eighth decade in show business. Morphing from their roots in gospel and doo-wop through funk, rock and then, finally, into slow-jam R&B, the Isley Brothers remain one of the most fascinating groups of all time. This album contains some of the most life-affirming music ever recorded: Ronald Isley's keening yelp offering strength and sensitivity as it's supported by brothers Rudolph and O'Kelly. Our collection picks up their story in 1969. By this time, they had been recording for 12 years for many legendary labels, from RCA, to Atlantic, to Motown. The brothers decided to go it alone on their own label, T-Neck. The repurposed Isley's broke onto the scene with the US R&B No. 1/Hot 100 No. 2, 'It's Your Thing'. The album of the same name was a Top 30 smash and the group's decision was vindicated. 'It's Your Thing' marked a meeting point of influences: Sly Stone, James Brown, gospel and one-time group member Jimi Hendrix, laying the template for the Isley's next decade, from the gritty rock covers of Givin' It Back to the era-defining '3 + 3' (with the formal addition of the two younger Isleys, Ernie and Marvin, plus brother-in-law Chris Jasper). After the 1972 release of 'Brother, Brother, Brother' (featuring the classic 'Work To Do') T-Neck moved to CBS leading to their first Platinum-selling album (1973's '3+3'). Produced with Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff, '3+3' was practically prescribed to every soul boy in the UK (witness Wham's cover of 'If You Were There'). For the Isleys to take their old R&B hit, 'Who's That Lady' and turn it into hard-rocking psychedelic soul was a blazing statement of their intent. Their version of Seals and Croft's pretty 'Summer Breeze' became one of their biggest hits, with Ronald and Ernie stamping their authority on the ballad. Gatefold sleeve 2LP 140Gram Vinyl

Fear Of The Dark
Regular price $36.98 Save $-36.98180gm vinyl LP pressing. Unlike the '80s reissues which were cut from the original analogue master tapes, the audio on these releases has been cut from the high resolution remasters of 2015 when the Maiden catalogue was digitally upgraded. They will be packaged in identical artwork to the initial vinyl releases and will be issued chronologically across a three month period. The '90s proved to be a difficult time for heavy metal bands in general, but Iron Maiden plowed forward, notching up yet more success with albums like 1992's acclaimed Fear Of The Dark. Available for the first time on LP in the U.S., the album served as the band's ninth studio effort overall and was the last to feature vocalist Bruce Dickinson until his return in 1999. Debuting at No. 1 in the U.K. and climbing to No. 12 on the Billboard Top 200 in the U.S., the album marked a return to classic '80s form yielding killer singles like "Be Quick Or Be Dead" and the epic title cut.

A band that wore the phrase "Generic Pop Punk" as a badge of honor, seemingly daring people to underestimate them, turned heads when they ascended to the throne as the kings of pop punk, headlining Warped Tour, playing arenas with Blink 182 and Lil Wayne, releasing multiple pop punk classic albums, and putting out not one but 3 viral songs on TikTok, including "Wish You Were Here" from 2017's massive album The Peace And The Panic. Songs like "In Bloom", "Motion Sickness", and "Where Do We Go When We Go" have become mainstays on any emo nite playlist in the world. Rearrange Us

Joy's star rose quickly from a bedroom project to a well-oiled machine dubbed "your new folk-rock heroes" by Rolling Stone upon the 2018 release of their self-titled debut record. That same year and beyond, millions of streams piled up month after month, and sold-out crowds sang along to every song and grew in number with every tour and festival stop they made. 2020 holds no fewer big moments on the road for the band, who are starting out the year touring arenas with The Lumineers, and following it up with a substantial headlining run of their own, including stops at Lollapalooza, Hangout Festival, and Bonnaroo, and two nights at Red Rocks. Their highly anticipated sophomore album Rearrange Us is sonically rich and expansive; producer Tucker Martine's Portland studio and creative input widens the capabilities of Mt. Joy's already bright sound, and allows the growing sophistication of the songwriting and the arrangements to really shine. The self-reflective record shows the band knows where they came from and what they're up against, and that together they have the strength to carry on.

The Milk Teeth EP compiles singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse's various non-album singles onto a physical release for the first time. It includes the song "Good Looking," which, in mid-2022, exploded on Tik Tok and hit #1 on the global viral chart. Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as an actress and model, but you'll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music. Growing up in London, Suki gravitated towards music's magnetic pull. She listened to the likes of Alanis Morissette and caught Missy Elliott live as her first concert. Meanwhile, Oasis held a particularly special place in her heart. She initially teased out this facet of her creativity with a series of singles, generating nearly 20 million total streams independently. Nylon hailed her debut "Brutally" as "what a Lana Del Rey deep cut mixed with Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides, Now' would sound like." In addition to raves from Garage by Vice and Lemonade Magazine, DUJOR put it best, "Suki Waterhouse's music has swagger." Constantly consuming artists of all stripes, she listened to the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Valerie June, Garbage, Frazey Ford, Lou Doillon, and Lucinda Williams. In late 2020, she finally dove into making what would become her full-length debut album, I Can't Let Go [Sub Pop Records] with producer Brad Cook [Snail Mail, Waxahatchee]. Now, she introduces this chapter with "Moves" and "My Mind." Her first album for Sub Pop, I Can't Let Go, produced by Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee) and released in May of 2022, is a testament to her powers as a singer and songwriter. The Milk Teeth EP rightly shines a spotlight on her pre-album material, giving these six songs their first physical release.

2018 release, the fourth studio album by British band Mumford & Sons. The album was recorded at The Church Studios in London with producer Paul Epworth. The album features the lead single, "Guiding Light". The band recorded more than 25 songs with Epworth and were intent on keeping the "collaborative spirit" of their live shows and 2016 EP Johannesburg. Marcus Mumford has said that much of the album was recorded in "non-gender specific Friday night lads sessions" with friends where they would play music, "smoke cigarettes and have a great time". Around 100 people were involved in these sessions, with some being featured on the record, including American singer-songwriters Maggie Rogers and Gill Landry.

Memoir of a Sparklemuffin - CD
Regular price $13.98 Save $-13.98Compact Disc
Suki Waterhouse's music sounds like a collage of her inspirations, experiences, and emotions stitched together by honeyed vocal delivery, bright-eyed melodies, and evocative storytelling. It doubles as a mirror image of her life as a consummate creative, artist, actress, model, and mother, yet it also breaks the glass to unveil raw truth. She leans on an ever-evolving sonic palette to convey what she's feeling-whether it be folky Americana, nineties alternative, turn-of-the-century indie, or handcrafted otherworldly pop. You'll hear Suki's longing in a swooning chorus, fearlessness in a crunchy chord, elation in a danceable waltz, and wonder in a soft coo befitting of a lullaby. She faithfully followed a lifelong passion for music to her 2022 full-length debut, I Can't Let Go. Adorned by "Moves" and "Melrose Meltdown," it incited widespread critical applause from Variety, Nylon, NME, The Line of Best Fit, and more. Between headlining shows and touring with Father John Misty, "Good Looking" surged online, generating nearly a billion streams, going RIAA platinum, and paving the way for the Milk Teeth EP. Simultaneously, she absorbed inspiration from a season of change earmarked by unforgettable moments a la gracing the stage of Lollapalooza 2023, performing on multiple continents, becoming a mom, and closing out the Gobi Tent at Coachella in 2024. Everything just set the stage for the gold-certified songstress to assert herself as a versatile, vibrant, and vital presence on her 2024 double-LP, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin.

I Can't Let Go - CD
Regular price $13.98 Save $-13.98Compact Disc
Nowadays, voice memos, videos, and pictures chronicle our lives in real-time. We trace where we've been and reveal where we're going. However, Suki Waterhouse catalogs the most intimate, formative, and significant moments of her life through songs. You might recognize her name or her work as singer, songwriter, actress but you'll really get to know the multi-faceted artist through her music. Memories of unrequited love, fits of longing, instances of anxiety, and unfiltered snapshots interlock like puzzle pieces into a mosaic of well-worn country, '90s-style alternative, and unassuming pop. She writes the kind of tunes meant to be grafted onto dusty old vinyl from your favorite vintage record store, yet perfect for a sun-soaked festival stage. Her first album for Sub Pop, I Can't Let Go, is a testament to her powers as a singer and songwriter.
In Suki's words: "The album is called I Can't Let Go because for years it felt like I was wearing heavy moments on my sleeve and it just didn't make sense to do so anymore. There's so much that I've never spoken about. Writing music has always been where it felt safe to do so. Every song for the record was a necessity. In many ways, I've been observing my life as an outsider, even when I've been on the inside. It's like I was a visitor watching things happen." Growing up in London, Suki gravitated towards music's magnetic pull. She listened to the likes of Alanis Morissette and Fiona Apple, and Oasis held a special place in her heart. She initially teased out this facet of her creativity with a series of singles, generating nearly 20 million total streams independently. Nylon hailed her debut track, "Brutally," as "what a Lana Del Rey deep cut mixed with Joni Mitchell's 'Both Sides, Now' would sound like." In addition to raves from Garage, Vice and Lemonade Magazine, DUJOR put it best: "Suki Waterhouse's music has swagger." Suki is constantly consuming artists of all stripes, and, in the lead-up to making I Can't Let Go, she was particularly drawn to the work of Sharon Van Etten, Valerie June, Garbage, Frazey Ford, Lou Doillon, and Lucinda Williams. After falling in love with Hiss Golden Messenger's Terms of Surrender, she reached out to it's producer Brad Cook (Bon Iver, War On Drugs, Snail Mail, Waxahatchee) to help define the sound of I Can't Let Go. On I Can't Let Go, Suki not only catalogs her life up to this point, but she also fulfills a lifelong ambition. "When I've been stuck or feel out of touch with a sense of inner meaning and outer purpose, I've found both through searching my memories and finding those events buried in the shadowy areas of the psyche where they were ignored," she says. "So many times of change in my life have required return visits-especially at the transitions through to the next stages. The album is an exploration of those moments when there is nothing left to lose. What is left and can't be thrown away is the self."

Deluxe edition includes four bonus tracks and expanded booklet. 2015 release, the long-awaited third studio album by British folk rock band Mumford & Sons. Wilder Mind marks the end of Mumford and Sons' hiatus, which they took in 2013 after extensively touring behind Babel. The album moves away from the band's first two albums, adding more electric guitar to the mix and emphasizing the 'rock' side of the 'folk-rock' genre they've been lumped into. "We felt that doing the same thing, or the same instrumentation again, just wasn't for us," Marcus Mumford told Rolling Stone. This musical shift explains the reasoning behind Winston Marshall's switch from banjo to the electric guitar. Includes the single "Believe."

2018 release, the seventh full length album from dream pop band Beach House. "At it's release, we will have been a band for over 13 years. We have now written and released a total of 77 songs together. Throughout the process of recording 7, our goal was rebirth and rejuvenation. We wanted to rethink old methods and shed some self-imposed limitations. In the past, we often limited our writing to parts that we could perform live. On 7, we decided to follow whatever came naturally. As a result, there are some songs with no guitar, and some without keyboard. There are songs with layers and production that we could never recreate live, and that is exciting to us. Basically, we let our creative moods, instead of instrumentation, dictate the album's feel. For 7, we built a home studio, and began all of the songs there. Whenever we had a group of 3-4 songs that we were excited about, we would go to a "proper" recording studio and finish recording them there, in the process shortening the amount of time between the original idea and the finished song. 7 didn't have a producer in the traditional sense. James Barone, who became our live drummer in 2016, played on the entire record. We also worked with Sonic Boom (Peter Kember), who became a great force on this record by shedding conventions and helping to keep the songs alive, fresh and protected from the destructive forces of recording-studio over-production/over-perfection."
