Released in August 1991, Pearl Jam's landmark debut, Ten was a dark, anthemic rock record which introduced the wider world to the unforgettable sound of Eddie Vedder's charismatic, honey'n'gravel-soaked growl. Capturing the mood of the times, his lyrics mostly dealt with disaffection and social dysfunction, with "Even Flow" touching on homelessness and the dramatic "Jeremy" reputedly inspired by a true story in which a high school student shot himself in front of his classmates. Ten initially sold slowly, but when the band's reputation as an unmissable live act kicked in after they supported the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the U.S. during the autumn of '91, the album gradually went gold and kept right on selling. It peaked at No. 2 on the US Billboard chart in 1992, eventually going on to sell a phenomenal 13 million copies worldwide.

The Bends is the second studio album by Radiohead. In 1995, two years after an incredible debut in Pablo Honey, Radiohead were under tremendous pressure to deliver. During the course of their career, The Smiths released a trifecta of compilation albums which every fan worth their salt felt obliged to own, even though two of them were originally only available in the UK and one was only available in the US. The first of the UK-only releases was the immortal Hatful of Hollow. Issued in 1984 shortly after The Smiths eponymous debut it collects various singles, B-sides and BBC Radio 1 studio recordings with John Peel and David Jensen. In addition to early, raw versions of many key tracks from The Smiths such as "Reel Around the Fountain," "You've Got Everything Now," "Still Ill," "Hand in Glove" and "What Difference Does It Make?," Hatful of Hollow also boasts many of the band's finest singles with "William, It Was Really Nothing," "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now," "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want," "Back to the Old House," "Girl Afraid" and "How Soon Is Now?" Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition of the second studio album by Metallica, originally released in 1984. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on a concept by the band, depicts an electric chair in the midst of a thunderstorm. The title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand. Although rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical maturity and lyrical sophistication. This was partly because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and had more input in the songwriting. Instead of relying strictly on fast tempos as on Kill 'Em All, Metallica broadened its approach by employing acoustic guitars, extended instrumentals, and more complex harmonies.

Master of Puppets was originally released on March 3rd, 1986, on Elektra Records and went on to become the first Metallica album to be certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album has been certified six-times Platinum in the United States and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. In 2016, the album became the first metal album to be added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress, an honor granted to works deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Recorded at the Sweet Silence Studios with producer Flemming Rasmussen, it was their third album overall. Master of Puppets was the band's last album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident in Sweden during the album's promotional tour.

It's pretty safe to say that most view The Queen Is Dead as the best full-length studio effort ever offered by the Smiths. It arrived in June of 1986 to a rapturous critical reception and its reputation has remained consistent ever since, with "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" in particular having gone on to be seen as a stone-cold classic even by those who aren't full-fledged Smiths fans. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a publication on either side of the pond that doesn't acknowledge it as one of the greatest albums of the whole decade, thanks to songs like the dance-hall fun of "Frankly, Mr. Shankly," the impeccably depressing two-fer of "I Know It's Over" and "Never Had No One Ever," the jangly fun of "Cemetry Gates," and even the silliness of "Vicar in a Tutu."

Weezer doesn't look like rock stars, its amusing name doesn't evoke stadium-heights glories, and the group's lyrics don't exude confidence or flash. SZA, one of the redefining voices of today's contemporary music era, entered the music scene in 2012 with her first critically acclaimed EP, See.SZA.Run. Following that, she released S in 2013 and Z in 2014, both to rave reviews. In 2013, SZA signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, being the first female artist to join the label. SZA wrote and performed on Rihanna's Anti single "Consideration" in 2016 and helped write Nicki Minaj and Beyonce's "Feelin Myself" in 2014. Born in Maplewood, NJ as Solána Rowe, SZA grew up listening to classic and avant-garde jazz, alternative, and rap. She renamed herself finding inspiration within the Supreme Alphabet: the ‘S' stands for savior or sovereign, the ‘Z' for zig-zag, and the ‘A' for Allah.

On the strength of hit lead single "Love Galore," SZA's major label debut Ctrl claimed the No. 3 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart and entered at No. 1 on Billboard's R&B Albums and No. 2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts.
