Astounding Harmonic Roots Pop Debut Topped Myriad 2008 Best-of Lists!
Seattle's five-piece Fleet Foxes traffic in baroque harmonic pop on this, their self-titled full-length debut. They draw influences from the traditions of folk, pop, choral, gospel, sacred harp singing, West Coast music, traditional music from Ireland to Japan, film scores, and their peers from the Northwest. The subject matter ranges from the natural world and familial bonds to bygone loves and stone cold graves. Fleet Foxes is a supremely crafted and confident affair produced by the famous Phil Ek (Modest Mouse, The Shins).

He played gigs with numerous bands, earning a spot in Marc Benno's band, the Nightcrawlers, and later with Denny Freeman in the Cobras, with whom he continued to work through late 1977. He then formed his own group, Triple Threat Revue, before renaming the band Double Trouble after hiring drummer Chris Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon. Another One
Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Vinyl LP pressing. 2015 mini album release from the Canadian singer/songwriter. Like the days of Steely Dan or Harry Nilsson releasing a classic album every year (or less) comes Mac DeMarco’s Another One, a mini LP announced one year after the release of the meteorically successful Salad Days. Written and recorded during the downtime between a relentless touring schedule, Another One is an eight-track release that expands the arsenal of Mac’s already impressive catalog, showing the maturity of Mac’s progression as songwriter: it’s a bit more refined, a bit more sophisticated, but nonetheless retains the guts and soul of classic Mac. Despite working at the same pace as artists like Creedence and The Rolling Stones, coupled with an equally unending schedule of touring and press, it’s odd that Mac is labeled as a slacker. With two full-lengths and two EPs released and hundreds of sold out shows performed in the last several years, a recent late night television debut on Conan following a special performance on The Eric Andre Show, it seems, as Mac nears his 25th birthday, there’s not a slack bone in the man’s body. Great songwriters don’t need to reinvent themselves; they just need to keep going and let the songs out in the world. Thus, here’s Another One.

Three Imaginary Boys
Regular price $27.98 Save $-27.98Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Three Imaginary Boys was released on 8 May 1979 by record label Fiction. The record company decided which songs were put on the album, as well as the cover artwork, without Robert Smith's consent. For all Cure albums since, Smith has ensured he is given complete creative control over the final product before it goes on sale. The "Foxy Lady" soundcheck, with vocals sung by Michael Dempsey, was not supposed to be on the album, and was removed for the American release. Smith has stated that "songs like 'Object' and 'World War' and our cover of 'Foxy Lady' were [Chris Parry's] choice". Despite Smith's displeasure with the record, Three Imaginary Boys was well-received critically at the time of it's release. Sounds' Dave McCullough praised it in a 5-star review and noted: "The Cure are going somewhere different on each track, the ideas are startling and disarming". McCullough noted the variety of the material and qualified "Grinding Halt" as a "pop song that reminds you of the Isley Brothers or the Buzzcocks".

Goo
Regular price $29.98 Save $-29.98Cyberpunk. Karen Carpenter. A date with Mary Christ. The hypnogogic state. Go-carts. Deconstruction. UFO's. Rap misogyny. Joan Crawford. Marriage. A teenage girl named Goo. In the primordial soup that is Sonic Youth, one of the most critically-acclaimed underground bands of all-time, the above is just some of the musical fodder for 1990's Goo, the band's seventh album and first on a major label (DGC Records).
Mixing American myth and pop images with alternative ideas about music in a great cosmic blender, Sonic Youth is truly, ultimately, progressive rock - bold and daring, stretching pop to it's limits, unique and transcendent. "It's important that people know that music is a free thing," explained guitarist Thurston Mooore, "and not to be dictated by anyone."
Sonic Youth doesn't throw away the rock cliches here, they reshape them. With skewed, mangled guitar tunings, and lyrical jump cuts, Sonic Youth's songs aren't the sound of things falling apart but rather of them getting put back together. A landmark album in the history of alternative rock, with Goo Sonic Youth put it all together all right and genre classics like "Dirty Boots," "Kool Thing," and "Mote" are representative of some of the finest work of the band's trailblazing career and the '90s in general.

The Suburbs
Regular price $39.98 Save $-39.98Arguably one of the most significant bands of the 21st century, with their 2010 epic The Suburbs Arcade Fire delivered a dynamic collection that managed to be both grandiose and life-affirming without getting bogged down in ephemera. Debuting at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200, Arcade Fire's third studio effort took home Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards before going on to earn the band Best International Group and Best International Album at the 2011 BRIT Awards. The expertly paced music is equally radiant and haunting while the urgent lyrics display a variety of influences from the anxious yearnings of suburban childhood to the stirring imagery of surreal dystopian landscapes.
"Three albums into its career, Arcade Fire confirms its position as rock's most vital band, The Suburbs following the thematic-oriented paths of its two excellent predecessors but completely changing the musical and topical course. Saliently addressing childhood memory, the concept of home, fleeting innocence, emotional transience, and the search for something pure, the Montreal septet has made an imperative statement about our era's communicative disconnect, unquestioned speed, and gamut of feelings and meanings that arise when one looks back at what was – and what is now." - Bob Gendron, TONE Audio, Issue 33, #3 Best Record of 2010.

This is the band's debut album 'InnerSpeaker'. 'InnerSpeaker' is Tame Impala's chance to paint a far more extensive picture, and sure enough it redrafts the entire Tame Impala world as we knew it into an explosive, cosmic wonderland of ecstatic harmony and perfectly accessible journeys into inner space. Recorded and produced by the band's own Kevin Parker with Death in Vegas's Tim Holmes on the engineer duties, in an enormous mansion with 180 degree views of the Indian Ocean. It was then mixed in upstate New York, by renowned sonic maverick Dave Fridmann (MGMT / Flaming Lips). The resultant record will first be unveiled with the single, Solitude Is Bliss, a joyous summertime romp through fields of honeyed harmony and crispy good times and is just the very tip of the amorphous cosmos that.
