Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York is reissued on 180g vinyl 2LP in celebration of the landmark record's 25th anniversary in November 2019. Expanded to include five rehearsal performances previously only available on the DVD edition, the anniversary release also features an exclusive gatefold jacket adorned with anniversary silver foil detail on the front and back cover.

1994's Unplugged In New York was the last Nirvana collection recorded before the suicide of alternative-rock icon Kurt Cobain and its stripped down, neo-acoustic arrangements and bridled fury caught many fans by surprise. However, the emotion and anguish revealed through the intimate performances here end up offering a new appreciation for the nuances of one of the greatest and most revered bands of their era, one that may have been on the verge of discovering a new sound and style. Standout tracks include stirring renditions of the Meat Puppets' "Plateau," "Oh, Me" and "Lake of Fire," the Vaselines' "Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam," David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World" and Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" along with band classics like "About A Girl," "Come As Your Are," "Pennyroyal Tea," and "All Apologies."

Remastered edition of the 1989 debut album from Trent Reznor and Co. Featuring the original tracklisting and artwork. As a young musician in Cleveland, Ohio, Trent Reznor took a job at a local recording studio and employed unused studio time to develop his own material. The nascent album was later recorded with his favorite producers including Flood/Mark Ellis (U2, Depeche Mode, PJ Harvey), John Fryer (Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil), Adrian Sherwood (Ministry, Cabaret Voltaire) and Keith LeBlanc (Tack head). The result was Pretty Hate Machine. All songs were written, arranged, programmed and performed by Reznor.

Their last album may have given them a certifiable radio hit, airtime on VH1, and a Kidz Bop tribute, but listening to the follow-up to 2004's Good News for People Who Love Bad News, you might get the sense that the members of Modest Mouse are flinching at the spotlight. We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, the group's fifth full-length release, is denser than its predecessor with tunes that seem willfully harder to penetrate. Even the addition of former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr to the line-up seems incidental, as Modest Mouse's off-kilter sound stays largely intact. But keep listening and it becomes obvious that the band hasn't lost any of his pop bite, especially midway through with a sweep of terrific songs like 'Missed the Boat,' 'Education' and 'Little Motel.' It's hard to tell if there's another 'Float On' in the bunch. In fact, the first single, 'Dashboard,' is one of the weakest Isaac Brock has ever penned. With Shins James Mercer adding lovely vocals to 'Florida,' however, it hardly matters.

Introduced by the sonically laid-back and funk/R&B-heavy tracks "Self Care," "Small Worlds" and "What's The Use?", Swimming is the latest exploratory offering from shape-shifting rapper/singer/producer Mac Miller and follow-up to 2016's The Divine Feminine. Serving as his fifth full-length studio effort overall, it includes contributions from fellow rapper/producer J. Cole, British singer/songwriter Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange) and composer/instrumentalist John Brion. Miller told Zane Lowe that the album is focused on space and "what it means to be inside of a record."

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Digitally remastered edition of the second studio album by Metallica, originally released in 1984. The album was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on a concept by the band, depicts an electric chair in the midst of a thunderstorm. The title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand. Although rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical maturity and lyrical sophistication. This was partly because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and had more input in the songwriting. Instead of relying strictly on fast tempos as on Kill 'Em All, Metallica broadened its approach by employing acoustic guitars, extended instrumentals, and more complex harmonies.

The album has been certified six-times Platinum in the United States and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. In 2016, the album became the first metal album to be added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress, an honor granted to works deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Recorded at the Sweet Silence Studios with producer Flemming Rasmussen, it was their third album overall. Master of Puppets was the band's last album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a bus accident in Sweden during the album's promotional tour.

1989 Major Label Debut Newly Remastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Bob Ludwig

Louder Than Love, Soundgarden's second full-length studio album and major label debut (after the independently released, Grammy-nominated Ultramega OK), was originally released by A&M Records on September 5, 1989, and was the last to include bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Recorded with producer Terry Date at Seattle's London Bridge Studios, it announced the arrival of a major force on the emerging Pacific Northwest rock scene, later to include Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

The album peaked on the Billboard chart at #108, yielding the singles, "Loud Love," "Hands All Over" and the radio-only promo "Get on the Snake," the latter of which was featured in the 1989 movie Lost Angels. Guns N' Roses later paid tribute to the band by covering "Big Dumb Sex" on their 1993 album, The Spaghetti Incident? as part of a medley with T. Rex's "Buick MacKane." Q magazine named the album one of the "50 Heaviest Albums of All Time" in 2001.

Newly remastered from the original analog tapes by Bob Ludwig, UMe is pleased to reissue Louder Than Love on 180-gram vinyl in August 2016 complete with an accompanying digital download card for 320kbps MP4 AAC audio.

The Smiths' eclectic 1985 release finds the band branching out into rockabilly, post-punk and flashes of funk, all while refining the guitar pop of their debut. Produced by Morrissey and Johnny Marr, Meat Is Murder is the band's sole studio album to reach No. 1 on the U.K. charts. "The Headmaster Ritual" and "I Want the One I Can't Have" are fine elaborations on the formula the band introduced on their debut, while "Rusholme Ruffians" is an infectious take on rockabilly. There was no other British group making music quite like this in 1985.

Sophie Allison aka Soccer Mommy's debut Clean is an emotional album, heavy on themes of growth, isolation, and change, but balanced by a lightness of touch, and with hooks to spare. "Still Clean" is a stunner of an opening track, with the signature warmth of Allison's voice coupled with one of her best refrains. Her growth as a lyricist is most evident on "Cool," a sharply observed character study describing an aloof stoner girl, so cool and untouchable, and the agony she inflicts on her boyfriend. "Flaw" is the comedown from a song like "Cool." A melancholy ode to lovesick self-loathing that finds ecstasy in sadness. "Scorpio Rising" crystallizes these themes of identity, jealousy, and the desire to be someone else. Clean – the cohesive record Allison dreamt of making – is a true step forward, a strong and mature album from an artist just coming into her power.

The Lumineers' new album III is audacious: every note, every syllable, and every moment of silence in between is emotionally charged. It's darker in tone than previous albums and is presented in three chapters, with each one centering on one main character from a fictitious family known as the Sparks, who span three generations in the album's storyline. III's concept began while the band was writing in the Catskill mountains, where producer Simone Felice works. Mixing raw emotional themes with their ear-catching melodies, expressive vocals and trademark acoustic sound, III moves masterly in artistic directions not yet traveled by the band. Regarding the cinematic new record, multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Fraites says, "This collection of songs worked out in a beautiful way, and I feel with this album we've really hit our stride." It took four years for The Lumineers to follow up their platinum-plus self-titled debut - which spent 46 weeks on the Billboard 200 and peaked at #2 - but Cleopatra is well worth the wait. During that time, The Lumineers - whose original members Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites founded the band in Ramsey, New Jersey back in 2002 - earned a pair of Grammy nominations (Best New Artist, Best Americana Album). Cleopatra proves Schultz and Fraites - along with cellist/vocalist Neyla Pekarek- are neither taking their good fortune for granted, nor sitting back on their laurels. With the help of producer Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers, The Avett Brothers), the man Wesley calls "our shaman," the band ensconced themselves in Clubhouse, a recording studio high atop a hill in rural Rhinebeck, N.Y., not far from Woodstock.
