I,I
Regular price $33.00 Save $-33.00The Most Beautiful and Satisfying Bon Iver Album Yet featuring Moses Sumney, Bruce Hornsby, Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus!
i,i is Bon Iver's most expansive, joyful and generous album to date. If For Emma, Forever Ago was the crisp, heart-strung isolation of a northern Winter; Bon Iver the rise and whirr of burgeoning Spring; and 22, A Million, a blistering, "crazy energy" Summer record, i,i completes the cycle: a fall record; Autumn-colored, ruminative, steeped. The autumn of Bon Iver is a celebration of self acceptance and gratitude, bolstered by community and delivering the bounty of an infinite American music.
The sales and accolades are well-known - multiple Gold albums, multiple Grammys, chart-topping collaborations and festival headlines. But even more significantly, with each release Bon Iver quietly shifts the state of modern music. From the boundaries of folk, to the rules of autotune, to production work for others, Bon Iver's fingerprint finds its way across the mainstream every time. Justin Vernon has always been a master collaborator, and on i,i that desire becomes maximal, with guests ranging from Moses Sumney and Bruce Hornsby to Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.
Here, the music - and band, and themes, and creative space - are bigger than ever!

22, A Million
Regular price $33.00 Save $-33.00Vinyl LP pressing. 22 stands for Justin Vernon. The number's recurrence in his life has become a meaningful pattern through encounter and recognition. A mile marker, a jersey number, a bill total. The reflection of '2' is his identity bound up in duality: the relationship he has with himself and the relationship he has with the rest of the world. A Million is the rest of that world: the millions of people who we will never know, the infinite and the endless, everything outside one's self that makes you who you are. The other side of Justin's duality is the thing that completes him and what he searches for. 22, A Million is thus part love letter, part final resting place of two decades of searching for self-understanding like a religion. And the inner-resolution of maybe never finding that understanding. When Justin sings, "I'm still standing in the need of prayer" he begs the question of what's worth worshipping, or rather, what is possible to worship. If music is a sacred form of discovering, knowing and being, then Bon Iver's albums are totems to that faith. The poly-fi record formed at the congruence of a bold yet delicate sonic palette. These sounds were the way out from the suffocating enclosure and captivity of anxiety. The ten songs of 22, A Million are a collection of sacred moments, love's torment and salvation, contexts of intense memories, signs that you can pin meaning onto or disregard coincidence. If 2011's Bon Iver, Bon Iver built a habitat rooted in physical spaces, then 22, A Million is the letting go of that attachment to a place.

Crumb / Locket (Double Ep)
Regular price $19.98 Save $-19.98Crumb is the collaboration of Brooklyn-based musicians Lila Ramani (guitar, vocals), Brian Aronow (synth, keys, sax), Jesse Brotter (bass), and Jonathan Gilad (drums). The friends came together in 2016 with the goal of developing and recording a collection of songs Ramani had written in high school and college, the work ultimately resulting in the band's first two EPs, 2016's Crumb and 2017's Locket. Encouraged by the warm reception online and at shows, the band evolved into a full time touring and recording project. The Crumb/Locket EP, previously available only in limited quantities on the band's website, will be available for the first time in stores on August 9th, 2019.

Texas Sun Ep
Regular price $20.98 Save $-20.98Driving anywhere in Texas can cost you half a day, easy. For example, it'll take you over four hours just to get from R&B singer Leon Bridges' hometown of Fort Worth down to Houston, where the psychedelic wanderers in Khruangbin hail from. The state is vast, crisscrossed with rugged expanses of road flanked by limestone cliffs and granite mountains, forests of pine and mesquite, miles of desert or acres of sprawling grassland, all depending on what part you're in. And it's all baking under the Texas Sun that lends its name to Bridges and Khruangbin's new collaborative EP. "Big sky country, that's what they call Texas," Khruangbin bassist Laura Lee says. "The horizon line goes all the way from one side to another without interruption. There's something really comforting about that." On Texas Sun, these two members of the state's musical vanguard meet up somewhere in the middle of that scene, in the mythical nexus of Texas' past, present, and future – a dreamy badlands where genres blur as seamlessly as the terrain.

Suck It & See
Regular price $28.00 Save $-28.00Light and airy, filmic but intimate, carefully arranged but deceptively powerful, Suck It and See is the Arctic Monkeys’ fourth album. Recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles with long-time producer/collaborator James Ford, the album has a summery pop feel. "Everyone was in a really good mood when we were there," says Alex Turner, "so I think the fact we were having a laugh comes across."
With Suck It and See the band perfectly meshes their hard and soft sides. The album is lyrically their most verbose since their record-breaking debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. From shimmering opener “She’s Thunderstorms” to the brilliantly buoyant “Black Treacle” through to perfect closer “That’s Where You’re Wrong,” Alex Turner brings an articulate melodic swagger to the proceedings. Suck It and See is not just the sound of a band working in perfect, energetic sync, it’s one of the year’s best albums.

Singles Going Steady
Regular price $27.98 Save $-27.98Singles Going Steady was initially released in the U.S. in September 1979 on I.R.S. Records. Originally a U.S. only release put together as an introduction to the Buzzcocks for the American public, side one featured their eight United Artists U.K. singles releases to date in chronological order, while side two featured the corresponding B-sides. The compilation perfectly captured the band's effortless ability to write three-minute-mini-masterpieces that would endure long after the initial spark of punk had faded. Healthy import sales following its U.S. release eventually led to United Artists issuing the album in the U.K. in November 1981 and it has subsequently transcended its status as a mere compilation going on to become regarded as a seminal and era – defining release.

Out of Step
Regular price $23.98 Save $-23.98Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson formed Minor Threat in 1980 with Lyle Preslar and Brian Baker. The band released two 7"s in 1981 that quickly established the group and Dischord as major forces in the new American hardcore scene. In the fall of ‘82 Steve Hansgen joined to play bass while Brian moved to second guitar. Minor Threat recorded Out Of Step and toured extensively as a five piece until June of '83 when Hansgen left the band. Minor Threat continued for several months as a four piece before calling it quits later that year. Out of Step was originally released after the band broke up in 1984. This edition of Out Of Step is re-issued with updated graphics (from the original artwork) and has been re-cut, upgraded to 45RPM and includes an accompanying download coupon.

Regular price $24.98 Save $-24.98Minor Threat was a compilation album by the American hardcore punk band Minor Threat. It was released in March 1984 through Dischord Records. The compilation consisted of the group's first two extended plays, Minor Threat (originally released June 1981) and In My Eyes (originally released December 1981). The 1984 Minor Threat LP featured the same cover as the 1981 Minor Theat EP, depicting vocalist Ian MacKaye's younger brother Alec (Untouchables, The Faith). The image has been imitated by punk bands such as Rancid on their album... And Out Come the Wolves and in the Major Threat ad campaign by Nike.

How Did We Get So Dark?
Regular price $27.98 Save $-27.98Limited 180 gram vinyl LP pressing. 2017 release. The ten tracks that are featured on How Did We Get So Dark? were written in instrumental form during sessions in Brighton, Los Angeles and Nashville. Always trying to explore ways of stripping their enormous sound back to give it more space and impact, inspiration for the lyrics came from events in vocalist/bassist Mike Kerr's life since the band first found huge success. While the album finds Royal Blood refining their melodic might, there are other moments that fulfil their aim to create songs that will add new dimensions to their live sets. Adorned with Kerr's falsetto, 'Don't Tell' drops the intensity to mesmerizing effect, while 'Where Are You Now?' pulsates with a bounding energy that's quite a step apart from anything else in their catalogue. The Royal Blood palette is also expanded with the inclusion of harmony vocals - something that they didn't use on their debut.

Wild Planet
Regular price $25.00 Save $-25.00Completely up to task in following up their kitschy debut, the B-52's step everything up a notch on their ceaselessly fun 1980 sophomore album Wild Planet: songwriting, humor, melodies, hooks, and group interplay. Wild Planet also finds the band embracing stronger psychedelic accents that seamlessly mesh with its lava-lamp colors and textures.
Rollicking, rousing, and riotous, Wild Planet soars on vocal efforts put forth by the delightfully campy chanteuses Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson, whose innocent girly tonalities wonderfully match up with Fred Schneider's effeminate deliveries and manic presentations. Add in Ricky Wilson's propulsive beach-bound guitar riffs, random squealing synthesizers, and a surfeit of danceable rhythms, and you have nothing less than a '80s masterpiece that, due to its optimistic vibes and buoyant grooves, only gets better with time.
As for clever humor and quirky character? Everywhere! Mentions of an icebox, fruit punch, and surprise greetings kick off the defining "Party Out of Bounds" while "Private Idaho" is an instant mix-tape essential, sent up with declamatory refrains and insouciant beats.

Follow the Leader
Regular price $32.98 Save $-32.98Ushering in a new post-grunge metal genre with their first two Ross Robinson helmed alt-metal landmarks Korn (1994) and Life Is Peachy (1996), Korn switched gears and co-produced their massive third album, Follow The Leader with the team of Steve Thompson and Toby Wright. The 5x-platinum affair peaked at No. 1 on four charts including the Billboard 200 and gave Korn their first entries on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts with "Got The Life" and "Freak On A Leash." The latter also earned the band their first Grammy Award. Further album standouts include "B.B.K.," "Children of the Korn" and "All in the Family."
"We were listening to tons of rap, but we also liked bands like Pantera and Sepultura and as we evolved, I think we learned to mix those two styles better," notes Jonathan Davis. "Plus, I grew up on new wave and I always wanted to make music that had lots of melody. We got that into the first two records, but Follow the Leader was where we were able to really emphasize the hooks and people loved that shit." "We never wanted to sound like every other band," Reginald Arvizu adds. "Even though we liked all those bands that were part of the sound that we helped create, we've always wanted to be step ahead of everyone else who was doing this kind of music."
"In attack and distemper, Korn have the Nineties hip-hop, amp-death aesthetic...down to ferocious perfection." - David Fricke, Rolling Stone
