Diamond Eyes works the way good records used to; each song carries you a little further away from your crappy day until finally, you've been transported to a place that feels a whole lot better than where you started. There's also a newfound sense of purpose that makes Deftones' sixth album stand out. The band recorded the album after their best friend and bassist Chi Cheng sustained a debilitating brain injury from a car accident in November of 2008. - The tangle of Stephen Carpenter's woozy, undulating guitar work and Moreno's soaring then secretive vocal style is the bittersweet dynamic behind each of Deftones' records, including Diamond Eyes. Crumb is the collaboration of Brooklyn-based musicians Lila Ramani (guitar, vocals), Brian Aronow (synth, keys, sax), Jesse Brotter (bass), and Jonathan Gilad (drums). The friends came together in 2016 with the goal of developing and recording a collection of songs Ramani had written in high school and college, the work ultimately resulting in the band's first two EPs, 2016's "Crumb" and 2017's "Locket." Encouraged by the warm reception online and at shows, the band evolved into a full time touring and recording project. In June 2019, Crumb will release Jinx, their first full-length album and best distillation to date of their singular blend of psych-rock and jazz. Double vinyl LP pressing. U.F.O.F. is the highly anticipated third record by Big Thief and their first on 4AD. U.F.O.F. was recorded in rural western Washington at Bear Creek Studios. In a large cabin-like room, the band set up their gear to track live with engineer Dom Monks and producer Andrew Sarlo, who was also behind their previous albums. Having already lived these songs on tour, they were relaxed and ready to experiment. The raw material came quickly. Some songs were written only hours before recording and stretched out instantly, first take, vocals and all. Others were explored in search of perfected moments of dynamic feedback and spiritual, rhythmic togetherness. A careful New Age sprinkle of mystical textures and stabs was added and kept in the mix only when all agreed that each element had become absolutely crucial to the tune. The completed palette feels classic, upfront and honest, with an occasional, welcome glimpse into the magic box. "Making friends with the unknown...All my songs are about this," says Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals). "If the nature of life is change and impermanence, I'd rather be uncomfortably awake in that truth than lost in denial."

Dinosaur Jr carved out a singular path through the latter half of the 1980s and first half of the 1990s, issuing a number of highly influential albums in the process. Hand It Over, their seventh record, appeared in the spring of 1997 following a lengthy absence, and would prove to be the band's final album-length offering for a decade.

Performed primarily by J Mascis, Hand It Over appeared at a time of declining international interest in American alternative rock, but nevertheless received widespread approval and appreciation amongst critics and reviewers. The album was accompanied, unusually, by an EP of non-album songs recorded for the Matt Dillon movie Grace Of My Heart and, later, a vinyl only "I'm Insane" 7" single, all of which are collected here alongside previously unreleased recordings made on stage in Stockholm and on TV in Australia.

Remastered and accompanied by in-depth sleevenotes from Mojo's Keith Cameron (based on recent and exclusive interviews with J Mascis), this deluxe edition colored vinyl 2LP-set provides a final view of a band about to disappear from the limelight but still as engaging and powerful as ever.

The National's elegant seventh full-length album Sleep Well Beast follows-up 2013's Trouble Will Find Me and their 2015 Ragnar Kjartansson collaboration A Lot Of Sorrow. Produced by band member Aaron Dessner with co-production by Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger, the 12-track collection was mixed by Peter Katis and recorded at Aaron's Hudson Valley, New York studio, Long Pond, with additional sessions having taken place in Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles. The album comes preceded by the urgent lead single "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness" complete with a freewheeling Aaron Dessner guitar solo which sounds heavily influenced by his recent Grateful Dead tribute project Day of the Dead. Originally released in 1990, Bossanova was the Pixies' third full-length and second collaboration with independent English producer Gil Norton. The album was a noted departure from their unpredictable signature sound and it's considered their first thematic project. Leader Black Francis' (Frank Thompson) songwriting reveals his twisted interpretation of surf music combined with his fascination of aliens and UFOs. Piece Of Cake is the third studio album by grunge rockers Mudhoney. It was their major label debut, being the first album to be released on Reprise Records. Songs like "No End In Sight" and "Suck You Dry" made it clear these guys were a punk band at heart.
